Congratulations Waterfall on the job offer. Did you accept it? Job huntin is painful and harder work than most jobs. I am glad my daughter only had to do it for a bit over a month this last time.
Thankyou, I'm still on the fence about accepting.

We talked about that this morning in Bible study. Difference between matrilineal and patrilineal systems. It has, throughout most of human history, been much easier to establish the mother of a child than the father, yes?
Your Bible Study group has the most fascinating discussions!

Good luck to you with your deliberations about a new work opportunity @Waterfall.

Your comments about age sent me off to look at my COVID stuff - I never paid much attention to the date of birth being there. I think it's just '2 points of ID confirmation' as we're accustomed to doing in hospital. I recently went for med tests @ hospital & was certainly asked (a few times!) DOB as a second ID to my name.

It does. You are quite welcome to join us while we are Zooming. PM me.

That's cool within the medical system. Giving that info to cinemas and restaurants a bit more problematic...

I was more concerned with the illegal aspect for a job interview.
It is illegal to ask:
Age
Marital status
Sex or gender or sexual orientation
Race
Colour
Religion
Physical or mental disabilities

Restaurants and cinemas have been common for a long time due to alcoholic beverages and age restrictions on movies. Hiring is more of a concern.

Well fair enough, but a fairly narrow range of 15-30, say. Hiring is definitely a bigger concern.
Many places in AB just ID everyone. Can you tell a 24 year old apart from a 34 year old consistently? Even for something community based like lake events, they just look at everyone's government IDs upon entering a beer garden. They don't rely on the lake cards, even for those well beyond the looking under 25. Maybe the occasional exception for those who look mature if someone forgets to bring it, but that's outside their policy.

I'm 75 and was asked not that long ago for proof of age for alcohol purpose!

Note: it was for non alcoholic beer! Interesting thing ... if one takes into account the alcohol content of flavoring in pop ... there may be more alcohol in some sodas!

We alcoholics can even sometime purchase pure vanilla extract in bulk (90-99% alcohol). Warning! One may smell kind 've fruitcake-like after consumption. Beware you WC2's who despise fruitcake ... it may corrupt you ideal of loving all things! Such are the fruits of love & God! Sometimes they rest under the tree ... fulminating!

That happens here too. Strangely, despite going to various departments in a major hospital recently, I wasn't asked for proof of vaccination, or Covid testing.

Nova Scotia just announced booster shots for health professionals who had their shots within less than 28 days ( which would be me and a whole lot of other people, and people over 80 in the community starting next month. Nursing homes have already started with booster shots.

I got my third dose last month. I'm in the clinically vulnerable group and apparently we need three doses to get what 'normal people get with two. BC is giving boosters to people six months after their second dose

Typically, SK is doing things differently from just about everywhere else. Those who are clinically vulnerable are starting the parade - six months after the second shot. Though I read somewhere that LTC residents are getting done as I type.

I believe that is because there are many health care workers who would get this vaccine. It's a way to get all health workers vaccinated. They can't work unless they are vaccinated

If it's just a choice though, they could get the other one. I think need should trump choice, if there's leftovers (very likely) then fine - 1st priority is just encouraging a bunch of selfishness.

I don't understand why first priority should be health care workers. I think first priority should go to people where an mRNA vaccine wasn't a good option for them due to medical reasons. Unvaccinated health-care workers to get priority for Johnson & Johnson vaccines arriving in B.C. next week
Vaccination is mandatory for healthcare workers in NS. I know of one nurse who can only get the Johnson one, she is allergic to stuff in the others. I suspect, that that’s the reason- the mRNA might be made up similar in terms of frequent allergens.

It all leads to the subtlety about the psyche of esteem!

This too will come down ... perhaps as a cloudy nemesis (nebulous)! May appear in a flash ... eclectic ... and few understand or grasp ... because they wish naught!

While I do see it as selfishness in most cases, a good mandate makes sure the vaccine (or whatever is mandated) is accessible. Some people say the mRNA vaccine is not accessible to them. Taking a completely black and white, authoritarian approach won't win converts.

I agree
