How would we have stimulus for critical thinking if there were no imperfections?

Thus the imp hits with imp ACT ... demos anonymity! The powers themselves can't see the underlying cause ... gross subtlety?

Alberta often gets the short end of the stick from the federal government

I'd love to see actual evidence of that. Alberta has often had a chip on its shoulder and the narrative is that the federal government and Canada always treats it badly. I'm not convinced. I also believe Alberta is better than that self-defeating narrative.

North wind, I was responding to your article.

yes, they have historical data to support longer waits. It they do not have actual data with this vaccine. So they are just guessing. I suppose once the vaccines have been used for five months or so , then they ca look at us unlucky folks with only one shot and see how we stack up to the lucky guys with both doses. Until then they don’t have study data to support this

we need more vaccines. We need to get all our adults vaccinated before we los the war to variants

The top five neighbourhoods for covid infections - (9000 cases per 100,000 people) in northwest Toronto - have ZERO pharmacies offering the vaccine.

It's bad that there are ZERO. However, if you look at a map of Northwest Toronto, you will discover that it is a food desert, so I wouldn't be surprised if pharmacies are a bit thin on the ground as well.

It's racism, pure and simple, but we polite Canadians would never admit that.

What do you think the reason is then?

I'm not convinced Alberta is being mistreated.

Me, neither, although I do totally understand that is the dominant narrative there. Quebec has its own strange narrative. BC often seems separated by the mountains. We are a diverse country, with many narratives. In Ontario, the Northern story is different than the south-central one. Ontario communities near the U.S. border have similar variations in "story".

And strangely, most of us feel "hard done by"...

After they initially said we would get it in the next few days they backtracked and did a reduction with another shipment for weeks. Per capita Ontario and Quebec had more than 25% more doses. That seems like unfair treatment to me. The reduction could have been spread out more or it could have been applied to provinces who weren't utilizing vaccines fast enough or have lower case loads. The article I posted about St. Albert pharmacies cancelled appointments wasn't the first shipment delay - that was from the later news where a large number of doses were going to be delayed.

This is an interesting site re Vaccine status across Canada - or province by province - what's been distributed, what's been administered etc. Looking at Alberta & Ontario - they are very similar when comparing doses/100,000 population. COVID-19 Tracker Canada - Vaccination Tracker

I'm just glad I'm not the one having to make all these decisions & I do have faith (some would say naively) that most people are doing the best they can to get it out there.

And @Inukshuk - thanks for that interesting video upthread - appreciated that perspective. Feel sorry for the people of Detroit tho.

As the delayed vials comes in we're also one of the provinces that reports deliveries as they come. Look at the numbers from a week ago, not so equitable.

I have friends in BC not sure of ages 30s or 40s, who have appointments. No reason for prioritization I guess their area opened for all 18+ now. I know here some pharmacies were booking ahead of the phases online but AFAIK they would only be slightly ahead ie. 1 phase and that was when the date for the next phase was set and close. I'm surprised BC has gone to everyone over 18 already in places. They are in a small area but I don't think it's a high risk one.

That's not accurate. If I were in Alberta I would be getting the vaccine due to my age. Instead, I am waiting for a letter to prove I'm in the clinically vulnerable category which will get me the vaccine a little sooner. Right now people in their late 70's are getting their vaccine in the age based program.

BC has absolutely not opened things up to 18+ and as far as I know, pharmacies are not yet giving the vaccines

BC has created a parallel stream for the AZ vaccine. This is for front line workers such as teachers, and I believe first responders.

BC is also vaccinating entire communities that are small and remote. That is because it is more economical and makes sense.

Speculating is not helpful. This is the accurate information if you're interested. Note that BC is currently in phase 2. BC vaccine plan

This isn't speculating my friends aren't lying. They are close in age to me just not sure if over/under 40. They were confused as to why they could book already but they were told to call and got appointments.

I do think that most small northern communities across the country are trying to vaccinate entire populations. Sort of a while we are here we might as well get you all

there is a lot of confusion. About our atrociously limited supply. About the rules for who and when. ABout restrictions. About accessing money.......

did you read the auditor general and the comments about fraud related to wage subsidy nd CERB payments.

I guess that is the sad state of affairs that people will cheat, and that good intentions will be hacked by the corrupt.

And I explained the reason for that. BC is vaccinating entire smaller and remote communities. They are using the more stable vaccine. They are doing this because it is more economical and makes more sense when such travel is involved. For point of reference, it is a 15 hour drive from Vancouver to Fort St John. It's about five hours from Prince George to FSJ. Both Hudsons Hope and Chetwynd are small communities. If they are setting up clinics, they may as well do everyone. The towns of Fort Nelson and Prince Rupert have already been done.
