I’m still pissed that he knocked out the disability ministry/ minister and we don’t know what’s going on with the supposed July rollout of the $200/ mo disability benefit that was promised, or even how to sign up for it (with no dedicated person to answer for it). The bill was passed, the amount was decided, the date was set. Now…crickets.

It is like Mystery Disease ... if you have an ailment that you don't wish to believe ... trash it as prodigal ... and thus one can believe there are no shortfalls in the democracy ... it would be insane to encompass something that interferes with the building of wealth in a few ...

I.E. just wish it to go away, with great will no evidence is necessary! Can intellect cohabit with excess emotions? There is the paradox ...
 
In your opinion, what should be Carneys response to the 50% tariffs put on Canada's steel and aluminum starting June 4th?
 
Trump has also announced a deal with Japanese company, Nippon Steel to allow them to invest in US steel and partial ownership, with the US Company having more shares.....for now.
Why wasn't this offered to Canada or was it?

The Nippon Steel thing goes back a few years and is unrelated to the tariffs. Nippon Steel made a bid to acquire US Steel but Biden blocked it on national security grounds or something like that. He did leave the door open to them taking a stake in US Steel, which Trump has jumped on and supported.

So the equivalent for Canada would be Stelco buying into US competitor, which I don't really see happening.

Going from 25% to 50% does not make much difference. The US customers who had another option took it already. The ones who need a special product have already cut production of their products. Canada produces about 80% of the aluminum used by the States at a lower cost than producers in the States or Europe. The best Canadian response would be supporting Canadian manufacturers in expanding their production of aluminum products like cans and extruded products like those used for making frames. This way, we will have an expanded manufacturing industry after the tariffs are done.
