Is intolerance a stoic item ... or perhaps just hard to take by those on the receiving ends of god's deliverance?

And another question: how do we make sure we are not just doing it for ourselves? I find churches tend to have quite a few people who like to do charity for " the feel good" effect. It doesn't matter if it or how it affects the people they deal with. I find very little tendency to reflect on this critically.
That's part of the reason why I prefer to do local charity stuff, it's a bit easier to know if it's actually benefiting those being helped.

I have 2 hockey billets age 15 and 17. I am acting as their parent from Sept. to June. Not the summer. No agreement for next year-and I am paid as they eat a lot of food.

Just wondering how many people here (or those we know) have raised/are raising a child not born to them? Is this a good or bad thing now we have information about some of the kids placed in homes outside their cultural origin?

This story is not about adopting a child from another country. As they said, they did not intend to adopt him, they just wanted to " do good" by paying his medical bills. Tragic that they did not think it through. A four year old is not able to understand or rationalize a temporary relationship. They lied to him until last minute at the airport. Yes, they spend a lot of money and time for him. At least, they didn't dump him earlier, but finished the planned job. If he is now better of is questionable. He is still handicapped, but not as bad. With his original handicap , he might have had better chances on getting more money when begging in the streets. What make people think, they know better what is best for others. This story is just cruel.

actually Mrs. Anteater they were not even offering to pay his medical bills. Shriners hospitals are free. They were offering him a home and care for the duration of his medical treatment. They did that. It took much longer than expected. It was not the diagnosis they expected.
