Poilievre’s longstanding explanation for not taking the clearance is to avoid the inevitable gag order that comes with access to top security documents.

Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) policies that allow Poilievre to be briefed on information he needs to know through “Threat Reduction Measures (TRMs), which is found under section 12.1 of the CSIS Act — and do not restrict his ability to speak on the matter.

“Unlike others who are willing to limit their ability to hold the government accountable on important issues of national security, Mr. Poilievre will not be gagged and unable to speak or act on information he may receive,” Sebastian Skamski, of Poilievre’s office, wrote.
The argument effectively boils down to Poilievre would rather live in the dark so he can speak freely from ignorance, than be updated with specifics he can't share entirely.

It's not remotely believable as a reason. It's certainly not the responsible thing to do. Suggesting public grandstanding is more important than intelligence reports of foreign interference is asinine.

I suggest that Montreal has similar attributes.
Have been both through and to Montreal.

Is it best? No. Is it most beautiful? No. Of course, both of those things are subjective opinion. Your mileage may vary.

Is it most multicultural, and world-class? No

Um, folks, the Toronto debate was well and truly exhausted around here years ago. Can we just agree to disagree and fight about which party to vote for, instead? After all, we all know nothing in Canada holds a candle to Shanghai (Disclaimer: Mrs. M might just have something to do with me saying that:sneaky:).

Good lord. Someone who left the country years ago is still harping about a world class city?

I'm so thankful for the ignore function.....

Fair enough, Mendalla (and I'll introduce Shanghai vs. Seoul in a new thread, jk)

Okay, then, back to parties. Go NDP

Why? Every city is different and has its virtues. Not to mention I am not in a position to compare given I have not been to Seoul (yet). And as far as I know, you haven't been to Shanghai. Let's just enjoy our cities and individual preferences.

Hence my "jk"

Okay, now, again back to the parties (your idea). Go NDP

Do overblown opinions have conclusive implications ... thus terminal portions? There we find the absolute up against an abstract wall of ... what else could there be ... further query? The people of the stoned edifice do not see such things and thus in a few words ... blind faith ... resulting in an ideal about the vacancy ... or the God of what's mist! How was it mist? Go figure ... how only the question goes on ... hard opinions terminate inde oubliette ... the flattening of the sphere of influence ... deflation? The Eire escaped ... now out and on the Looζ thus we loch up ... paranormal senses about scatter and ecolect-ism ... "no gather" function ... settled down!

Isolationism is succeeding in creation the au + ominous ... auto mation and the entire thing will be screwed ... bored down to nothing!

There are enigmas about nothing ... as some can't see it while in others it opens a hole in the night sky ... illuminated spots? Very puzzling it is said to be ...

Are Black Holes up there hard to mull over and thus abstract? Mull again ... the ultimate stew is cosmological ... there's everything in it ... thus beyond that? ... something unknowable! Words to patch together is all there is for amusement ... frills? Perhaps only for a fringe group of non-destructive type ... poked?

All in the bag ...

Only a alien intelligence can deal with such irrationalities about stray materialism ... those that believe they have to have the entire thing in OCD known as possession-is-M ... M being a diabolical situation that is a thin chance ... a spike in quantum devices ... prior leader before the eclectic strike ... everything scatters as if exploded ...

We as K' ... "what's the odds?" Only those that admit to mist parts will ask ... inquiry can go astray! Rah's hotz ...

I have staff heading South later in the Spring for a major business IT conference but there is simply no online or Canadian option for the training and learning they are seeking. In general, though, no plans to head down myself in the near future. Usually the US is a winter destination for us nowadays and maybe things will settle down by then (yeah, right :cautious:).

I see Carney was quick to respond to the auto tariff announcement. However, being in a election will limit his ability to respond. The government basically goes into a caretaker mode, so only maintaining programs already in place.

CBC Poll Tracker has been projecting a majority, too, but they don't tend to delve too deep into individual ridings, just the major national and regional polls. If this turns into a rout of the Conservative Party, Poilievre might be glad to lose his seat. Saves him the trouble of resigning it. Because going from a massive lead in the polls to a Liberal majority in under three months is definitely going to be the kiss of death for his political career (which, as I understand it, is basically the only career he's had).

WE should also remember that there is still a month....and polls are not always accurate predictors...a lot can change yet
