He is no shrinking violet. In fact, I want him to move to London and become our mayor. I'm getting getting sick of the bland political functionaries and corrupt ass-kissers we seem to keep getting around here (though I'll take the former over the latter when push comes to shove).
 
Elections almost never lead to discussion of important issues. Harper is now running hard on an anti-Muslim ticket. That's how the niqab became a big issue. He worked hard during his time in power on creating fear and hatred because fear and hatred work well at election time. And it makes racism respectable. Hitler knew that, and played the card to get himself into power and stay there. It's paying off for Harper. Canada has a lot of racists.
There is a painful similarity between Canada in this election and the Germany of the 1930s.
Even of the Greens could win enough seats for form the opposition ( which they can't), they would be ineffective. The Trans-Pacific Trade Deal, if it passes, will make it illegal to change environmental rules - even if the new rules address a problem which is killing people. Big money, Canadian and foreign, will be able to sue Canada for "lost profits" of billions of dollars in each case.
 
And Trudeau has said that he's provisionally in favour of the TPP. I think our grandchildren are f***ed, but I'm not sure that anything I can do with my vote this election will change that.
 
Thus our children will suffer the scorched earth syndrome and become haute Eire ... an environmental enigma when the population become to populous ... thus the fires of eLLe are stoked ..

Never give up - cast your vote. It will be counted among the popular vote. It will be noted as a percentage of those eligible who didn't vote for Harper.
My daughter and granddaughter live in a riding where the Cons are almost a sure thing. They can vote for the party of their choice. In my riding there is a close race. I will probably vote for the party most likely to defeat the Con incumbent who shows so much contempt for his constituents that at least twice he has failed to show up at a 'meet the local candidates' event.
 
Excited to watch the TV debate between the Etobicoke Centre candidates. Tonight on channel 10 at 7pm. :)
 
We had an all-candidates debate in our sanctuary last night, at which the conservative candidate, I think very foolishly, chose to show up, give opening remarks, then leave for another function. I, too, am unfortunately, in a swing riding, and the person I'm going to have to vote for sticks REALLY, REALLY hard in my craw.

Strategic voting would have me vote Liberal to help defeat the Harper government. I'm still nuking that one over.

I don't vote strategically. Voting the "lesser evil" is not my style. I vote my conscience. Though this election, I may as well go strategic. Can't say I'm happy with anything on the menu right now.

I didn't say I was going to vote strategically Mendalla. I said that's what strategic voting would have me do.
 
My vote is meaningless since I live in what's been called the safest Conservative riding in Ontario. But I will vote. Haven't made a final decision for whom though.

Most of the sentiments I've expressed in this thread already. Society is already way too against science and into pseudoscience. Chemophobia. At one point the platform was to ban all GMO crops when they didn't even realize just how many things GMO included as it's a much broader category than GE.

The last thing I want is the government leading us more towards pseudoscience, especially as this has major implications when it comes to healthcare, industry and quality of life.
 
I always vote strategically.
If I want to keep Ontario and Quebec in their high flying lifestyle, I have to vote Conservative. Then Ontario jacks up the price of wine.

The Liberals threw a body into our riding, but the NDP actually put in a candidate that I'd consider voting for.

"High flying lifestyle"? As if there isn't poverty in Ontario and Quebec.
 
My voting card certainly looks fine, and I'll find out tonight, as, having made the nauseating choice, I figure I'll get out and vote tonight after work.
