A Public Apology for Chansen

I like the thought of “ talking someone off the ledge”, but then I wonder that chansen is still talking about something that happened with Aaron- which happened ages in the past- so how could chansen be talked off the long term memory edge of an event that seemed to have hurt him?

It's hard when you're part of a longstanding community and something happens that leads you to feel unsupported. Or, something that makes you wonder if the other person (people) even know you at all.

Yes it's a longstanding issue. Many of us have experienced such things in our lives and know how hard it is to release old hurts.

Revisiting the situation sometimes helps but not always.

I'm happy to be back as admin after a break from that.

It's a bit awkward with partial bits made public but not really knowing how to address things.

I hope chansen that you decide to stay.
I've been both mod and admin here and I have always done my best to treat people fairly when acting in that role. I hope others do as well and that is what we have seen the majority of the time.

I do think it was fair for there to be a break with admin/modding with an active argument that has gone over a threshold, as there is potential for abuse with those capabilities.

I think with a long time group it's natural to have disagreements and at times those go further than they should, I've definitely done it at times when stepping away for a bit is likely the better option. It's really sad though when those things start to cut into the more personal and that's more difficult to repair.

I am not even remotely sorry to have "done my duty" as mod, then stepped away, probably forever. As I keep on reminding the church, you only have to do chair once, and I've done my bit.

It is a stinking job considering what some people expect to be winners and not humbled!

It is how the entire thing goes down ... so everything can rest ... anyone see the Theory of Everything? It too is enigmatic ... all about a dark portal or where in a total chill everything contracts to and unknown spot marked by "X" in the figuring ... few grasp the belief in such coherence as the concept that nothing exists settles in as hard to accept! Thus nothing must be out there ... and so ide goes ...

What's ide? It is nothing like an initiation without something ... God did it just for the experience ... of gravitas ...

That's pretty much it. On very busy boards with memberships in the hundreds or thousands, it is more of a steady ongoing thing, but here there's just a blip now and then. Admin work is a bit similar, too. Basically, if we decide to make a change or an upgrade comes out, there is lots to do, otherwise it's just watching for new registrations that get kicked to approval and spam.

A challenge in message boards/discussion groups using print only is the ease of failing to say what we meant to say and failing to read a comment as intended by the poster. Another challenge when our emotions are tied to a post is responding to posts with respect for the person making the post. I appreciate being part of this community and appreciate the willingness of those who administer and moderate to serve.
