We do that type of Gift exchange twice most years. The Art Club have a No Expenditure rule. We exchange unwanted items that we already own. Sometimes they are useful, sometimes hilarious., often decorative.
The family exchange comes with a price suggestion - this year it is $50. A couple of our kids decided several years ago that it was too expensive to buy gifts for everyone.. Interestingly, they continued to buy gifts to their in-law side.. It certainly tames down the shopping and expense.. Our decision was to add the savings to our charitable donations.
So one of those driveways I did last week, she seems to work for a coffee pod manufacturer. She dropped off 220 Keurig "seconds" - basically manufacturing run defects, though nothing that affects the coffee. It's usually the label is printed off-centre or similar cosmetic defects. My parents have a Keurig at the chalet, so they'll go to good use.Three driveways done and helped out a kid with a nearby heavy windrow who was shoveling for profit.
Still going to hell of course, but should at least earn me seat in the non-smoking section.
"6 inches of snow fell overnight but the temperature will rise above freezing during the day, only to fall below freezing in the afternoon. It takes you 30 minutes to clear your driveway, but you only have 15 minutes before you have to leave for work, or be late. What do you do?"driveway shoveling exams
Tie a snowboard low on the bumper with bunjee cords and use that as a plough."6 inches of snow fell overnight but the temperature will rise above freezing during the day, only to fall below freezing in the afternoon. I'm not sure which thing is better - dropping the pressure to do lots of not necessary stuff. or knowing others will do some of the work.. Hope you start to feel better soon.My list of items to be completed for Christmas is being reduced as I push them into January or later
I'm thinking my antibiotics aren't working as desired. Went for another test today. I'm napping a lot.
I'm not sweating about the list. Christmas is about spending time together. Everyone will chip in for meal
Everybody’s slowing down this Christmas, I feel like. It’s okay. You’re not alone. It’ll be what it’ll be and that’s perfectly fine.My list of items to be completed for Christmas is being reduced as I push them into January or later

Fill a garbage bin with hot water, dump it in the driveway. Then cut the garbage bin in half with a chainsaw and bungee that to the car, and speed out of the driveway - all in 15 minutes. It’s doable, right? You’d only need $20 to stop and buy a new bin on the way home. (Did I pass?)can you get detachable snow ploughs for the fronts of cars? (If not, you saw it here first!)
Edit: wow. You can get them! Who (who grew up on the West Coast) knew? I didn’t even know plugging your car in was a thing until visiting a cold place - I don’t remember when first I saw that - as an older kid - but I was laughed at (endearingly) for not already knowing that. Now I wish there were electrical outlets in parking spots here so I can boost my scooter charge when it dips.
The ploughs are not cheap. $2000

Not a good plan really. In some of the real seriously cold weather we get, it would freeze in minutes. If you want that kind of simplicity, just spend the money to get a heated driveway (yes, that's a thing, murder on the gas bill, though, I hear). Can you atttach a garden hose to hot water and pull it out to the driveway? Lol I have no idea.
Wow. Well, I was kind of joking. But more so because that might take longer to rig up than just clearing it the usual way lol.Not a good plan really.
