Oh YIKES (code word!) Tab - that really sucks re the ceiling. Leaks are often so difficult to actually isolate - so I hope for an obvious source in this case.

Re the exam - YIKES again! I endorse Mendalla's "correction" - ability to write an exam is not necessarily related to clinical expertise. In ON, our college requires us to compete one or two professional education modules each year - they send these out to us, but they are related to understanding & applying aspects of our governance legislation. Maintaining clinical competence is understood to be important, but a matter one's professional obligation. We do also complete profiles online to comment on any activities in this regard, as well as staying up to date with legislative matters. There are a number of therapists selected each year for audit - participating in which is an arduous task, & involves feedback from patients/clients and colleagues, as well as self-reflection & submission of documents. Perhaps an exam would be easier! :(

@Seeler It wasn't my bosses having me do exam. It's the OT College-my professional organization to protect the public. OTs are doing this to themselves.

My employers' RTs are under a college (College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario, CRTO) but I'm not sure what the requirements are to keep up their certification. I'd have to ask one of them.

Hi Carolla,

I only went through this process once although I know the goal is to audit each member of the College every five years. It was an arduous task for sure. . . pulling all the documentation together & distributing the surveys to clients and colleagues. Waiting for the results was a stressful time. I just can't tell you how relieved I was when I learned everything was okay.

me too P3; I am holding my breath that I may be able to retire before my name comes up again in the "random" selection process!

In my engineering field ... I felt that everything was not OK as many of those involved did not use their gifts of intelligence and information regarding enigma ... all for the sake of avarice ...

But they didn't know even how to contain that force in adequate structure ... thus they appeared to be BOT out ... the soul purchased?

Tak about fundamental physical possession when they would say they weren't possessed by the concerns for monist ... those believing in Monis Lease Ta'!

Plumber has come and went. Problem is dishwasher (probably solenoid valve). Dishwasher is now 1/2 pulled out. I turned off right waterline last night. Ceiling is drying out-though stil lhas drywall hanging down. Went to sears to see about new replacement or part and repairman. Sear catalogue and appliance store shut 30 days ago. Called the service number and they said "we have no authorized sears repairers in your area. Use canada 411 or yellowpages to find someone else to fix your appliance. Yes they can order parts from us. One of the attractive reasons for buying through sears was there coast to coast service. Apparently not! I was grumpy when the guy on the telephone said "No worries". Actually it is a worry-I have a broken dishwasher and a falling down ceiling!

Why should a deficient supplier worry about a customer?

This is ancient concept compared to the modern attitude that all that counts is business ... presence is all that counts ...

We can do without the market right ... and we no longer need to understand its composition ... simple ... right?

Be presently devoid ... a manifestation of a metaphor of being scroo 'd ....

Yes and no.

We are mandated in Ontario to be self-regulating under the RHPA (Regulated Health Professionals Act). The RHPA makes several stipulations which include ensuring continued competence, the establishment of a complaint procedure, and so on. And so on!

But it seemed to me, when I was still practising OT, that our College could be more strident in certain of its interpretations than the Colleges of some of my colleagues.

OK wet ceiling is a bigger deal than anticipated. Water also seeped between floor and sub floor (under tiles) in kitchen. Tiles are up. looks like new flooring for kitchen and dining room. I might choose to put something different down. Meanwhile kitchen floor tore up in places, kitchen island in pieces, fans and dehumidifiers going in kitchen and downstairs.
and to totally floor me youngest wants to move in next month, for a few months, until a subsidized apartment comes up. Separate food. I said yes.

Tab, get cork for kitchen floor. My s-i-l loves it, and I'm getting it next time for sure. (I've had lino, vinyl and ceramic tile).
