I have an app called Peel Smart Remote. Much easier to set up than our remote with multiple options, we never did get the sound bar onto it due to the effort it requires. The problem is you need to use a remote to set it up.

Ya never know. My riding was supposed to be a safe Liberal one and it went Conservative in 2011, though it is looking like the Liberals might get it back this time round.

Off topic, but does it work with your cable/satellite box? I tried it a bit but haven't had much luck getting to work with my TV, let alone the satellite. Been meaning to take another go at it but have not got there yet.

The soundbar?
It does, there's a setting we have to constantly switch between when we hook the tv up to watch netflix though. It's supposed to do it automatically, but it only seems to work about 50% of the time, the rest we have to go into the settings.

Well in 2011 the Conservatives took over 60% of the vote with the NDP taking about 22 and the Liberals 12. The Conservative incumbent has retired and the NDP and Liberals have solid candidates but I don't think there's enough of a swing to overcome that advantage.

Fingers crossed for your riding - and for mine.
I'm still struggling with who to vote for. The Liberals are ahead at the poles but is the margin wide enough that I caan safely vote NDP? Or should I join with Seelerman and vote Liberal. Even if it wasn't Harper, I couldn't vote for the old white 'old stock Canadian' that has represented the Cons and is running again.
Are grannie pan ties like connections with W---edgies ...some people a edgy bote this ... fabrication in the divide ...

My wife, who is going on a cruise with friends went to the advanced poll here in Brantford. I went down to spend some time with her before she left.
Counting the two of us there were two in line to vote.
Brantford was, once upon a time part of the Orange fortress both Provincially and Federally. Since those two particular politicians left it has gone back and forth between the Liberals and the Conservatives.
Our PC incumbent is not the most vocal member of Parliament. Which is good, he very rarely gets caught saying anything embarrassing. Of course we never catch him saying anything profound or inspiring either. We've had a few rather disappointing conversations so I'm not inclined to vote for him. I know more about our NDP candidate than I do any of the others and I will not be voting for him.
John "The Engineer" Turmel is running in our riding again. I expect he will be padding that Guiness Book Record with yet another loss.
Not a lot of lawn signs up in town that I have noticed.

Did you check this site, seeler: http://www.strategicvoting.ca/? I relied on it to tell me whether I should choke my annoyance and vote for someone other than Green.

I would look carefully at their methodology first. There's been a real dearth of good riding-by-riding polling and I know last election some strategic voters got caught out because they took advice based on regional polls rather than ones specific to their riding. They say Liberal for London North Centre and I know that makes sense because it has always been pretty much a two way race here but in a riding with a close three-way race, it may not be as clear.
I object to strategic voting on philosophical grounds and do not vote strategically as a matter of personal principle. It makes democracy a horse race where a party can really do and say anything as long they are statistically the best alternative to whatever people are trying to get rid of. Parties can discount strategic votes when formulating and implementing policy because those voters arguably did not vote for the party's platform anyhow, but for the party itself. It is, again arguably, just as destructive to real democracy as vote splitting.

I agree. What is the point of trying to vote strategically. Unless everyone else agrees with your position you arent making a difference
I thik it is more important to vote for the person or party you prefer. At least then your vote counts as part of their percentage vote
Most oundits say that stategic voting doesnt work. Vote your personal best choice and see where you sit with the rest of the country

It makes sense when it is the only tool we have to elect a different government in this system, without proportional representation, a new government which is desperately needed. If people don't get smart the majority of Canadians will be very disappointed. In my opinion, voting with conscience means not re-electing the PCs. So, that means not wasting votes on a party with the least chance of winning your riding and, en masse, winning the new government. My roommate disagrees with strategic voting so I am mad at her right now. She doesn't get it, in my opinion. In a different time, maybe we could afford to vote for a party just cuz they're our favourite. Not now, I don't think.
