I'll set out all the leftovers to share. The fancy pigs in a blanket (good sausage, not hot dogs) got polished off while we cleaned though.

Pinwheels - cream cheese filling did various mixtures: carrots, bell peppers, sun dried tomatoes, pesto. Also cheese whiz, bacon with a spiced tomato sauce on top and peanut butter with apple with jam on top.
Tortilla pinwheels - mostly sandwich fixins
Roasted Tomatoes with a crispy onion & bread crust
Deviled eggs
Caprese bites
Hot spinach dip
Cold cuts, veggie & fruit tray. Dips - baba ganoush, hummus, guacamole and yogurt & cool whip
Squares & cake

also meatballs, decided not to bother doing for the party
 
Woot, treatment plan came out and it starts this Thursday. I decided that I had covered enough friends one-on-one, to do a post on Facebook to put the situation in the public. It makes life easier as the weeks proceed.

Chemgal, I am thoroughly going to enjoy some of these leftovers. Think that I will go for the fruit to start...
 
Pinga, I hope you get some practical support during your treatment. The emotional support is great but having some of the practical stuff done is a relief!

My sister arrives on Wed, and will be here for most of the time. I have family & friends who have offered to drive, do errand, etc. They have supplied contact information -- many of them are retired.

I'm glad that you will have help Pinga. Perhaps your sister can take over much of the responsibility you've shouldered for your father in recent years - freeing you to expend your strength and energy on your own treatment and recovery.

The year Seelergirl was sick we found help from friends and neighbours (and the church) to be a life-saviour. Meals arriving at the door hot and ready, drivers - especially for the five weeks of daily commute to Saint John for radiation, plaay-dates and sleepovers for the younger child, summer vacation trips for the young teen, and an elderly neighbour who showed up to mow our lawn when Seelerman wasn't up to it.
Everyone's needs are different. Don't be shy, or having a sense of self-reliance -- let people know what you need, and accept offers. Even if you can manage it yourself, conserve your energy - there will be things that only you can do, save your energy for those.

Just a bit of advice from someone who has walked the path beside a loved one. And Won! You can do it too.

Warm wishes going out to Pinga who sounds ready to do her best with her treatment. Also to others who are battling health issues.

I scrolled through and then skipped some of the posts about laundry that were threatening to manipulate the friendly, supportive tone of this special thread.

Last week my hubby surprised me by coming home from the city with a new kayak. It was a total mind boggling surprise. We hadn't even talked about doing such a thing. Or discussed whether we could/should afford such a thing. My opinion would have been NO on al levels. However, there it was - sleek and brand new and paid for from hubby's pocket. At the weekend we took it camping with us. Hubby talked up a good story - it is SO much more stable than the one we had before! So he went out for a spin and returned, suggesting that I go and take some photos while out on the water. The kayak tipped me and my DSLR into the icy cold water before we left shore! Still drying my camera and hoping that it will be undamaged.

Also discovered that I'm sniffling a bit - so I put on some chicken/noodle/vegetable soup for myself and anyone here who would like a bowl. I carefully replaced all the calories with healthy nutrition.
 
OH NO for the dip with camera!! Hoping it will dry well. We dried something electronic once by putting it in a bowl of rice - but that might have dust that would get into DSLR camera crevices - so now that I think more, likely not a good option. Will cross my fingers for good outcome.

Do you have a waterproof sleeve for the camera? I think my husband got one some years back when we were going on a rafting trip - worried about splashes & dunking (no dunking occured - I'm happy to say!!)

The tone? Okay, it's possible that she picked up on something that wasn't there. I just thought this thread was a place people could come for some encouragement. If that isn't true, what can I say. My bad.
 
I'd be happy to encourage you Jae. I encourage you to think of your spouse before yourself and to offer, or just get on with, those endless chores that need to be done around the house and yard. Show her some concrete caring. I'd also encourage you to stop labelling jobs as Pink or Blue.

A thought about your morning headache - a friend found it helped when he changed his pillow.
 
As you may vaguely remember..... the bedroom project started oh so long ago..... is still ongoing. We finally agreed on the closet design, and I ordered them this past week. (California closets). I hadn't made it into their office to sign forms, etch, so the designer offered to come over, take a final measure, and have me sign.

She gave me the date for the install, which was going to be mid-October, just after Thanksgiving I looked at the calendar, and kinda went... ok. I will be tire,d but that is fine, will give me something to look forward to. We had chatted before that I would be off, but, someone would be home... so she had the basic scoop of what was going on. She went back to the office, and I figured it was a done deal.

Lo & behold she called back and said.... we can get the main units up for Oct 1, and then just backorder the drawers if you want. Woot! People being creative, working together, listening to needs, and proposing a solution. Gotta love it.

Thank you for the encouragement Kay, even if it isn't the kind of encouragement that I needed. When it comes to the division of labor in our household, my yobo and I are in agreement. We have together worked things out for our family over the course of the last seven years. It may not be what you and yours would do, and that's fine.

My last pillow was like that. Started waking up with stiff neck and headache that went away once I got up and exercised it a bit. Changed pillow and it's largely gone now.

Sweet. :) My headaches have been in my forehead. Some of them have been migraines, I'm reasonably sure of it. Others may have been related to stress, overwork, dehydration, and/or my neurological disorder.
