On the other hand May has humiliated herself and is now apologizing for her poor performance. Taking responsibility for her words. Blaming it on sleep deprivation is a bit of a cheap way out. At the very least she is denying that she was sloshed. We'd probably forgive her quicker if she had been out of her mind with drink

That in itself is more leadership than we have seen from Ottawa in some time.

Her comment on the "f--ing Cabinet" fails to be humourous or respectful. I'm more embarrassed for the Cabinet that it doesn't fail as truth.

That was certainly a 'bummer' thing to say and she realized it once it was out....how come that happens sooo often??? At least people are being called on it.

I agree that Harper will kill Canada as we knew it and he said he would make it 'unrecognizable'... he is getting there and that is scary.
It seems money is his bottom line. Rehabilitation is a word he doesn't seem to know, or want to even touch. AN did you notice he is forming a law against have large groups who are boycotting, or against Israel. It was on CBC this morning , Morning North reported the United Church of Canada would be target of this law. We are boycotting Israel.

Me, I am against any boycotting and have been for years. It brings down the most vulnerable people, like children, the elderly, ill, and women. How s that a good thing for Christians who claim to love, forgive, and protect children women and all who are marginalized?
Does bad + bad = good? It lands us in double bad ... behaviour. When will revenge stop, if we don't take that challenge up?
Jesus said, to ''put up your swords, the kingdom won't come this way. Swords are the anger, hate, vengeance, get even stances we too often hide behind.

Harper is making his own enemies he now hates and is trying to deaden their message of hope that we can do a better thing than this. This election hopefully won't be won by fearful ads that are personal attacks, and rhetoric that it will be better on this same road. Our democratic way of life is giving way. Prime Ministers are supposed to serve the Peoples of Canada. The government is the servant of the Peoples of the land. What happened?

yuppers, humour, like pornography, is cultural

hope you enjoyed that little lens into cascadia revjohn (and the culture of the writers of that piece) -- cascadians aren't as sophisticated and la di dah as Central Canada -- not as uptight -- different culture...

and if that performance is any indication of Elizabeth May, then she's gonna live forever (a sekrit to long life being learning how to live with embarrassing one's self)

this internet thing is huge -- peering into people's lives and being able to comment on it...

man, hope it works out, what with the different planks (cf culture) bonking aboot...hobbits with eye planks...

Funny anecdotes ... sort of like the iron lady ... you know Jane Austen ... a bit of the austenitic steel of all rationality by religious irrationality ... or the void of any reason!

Then there are signs of the Ba Steel ... a franc roguishness ... where people sacrificed head for the love of Gael Royalty to see it in a basket --- Charles Dickens!

Saw a short clip of Elizabeth May's speech on a television news broadcast. Though I disagree with some of her politics, I thought of her in the past as being a good speaker. Here she looked intoxicated to me.

Sleep deprivation. Nyquil. Wine.

How does one adult combine all this and think that the speech they are about to give is going to be remembered for all the right reasons?

That said, we have a compendium of stupidity from the Conservative Party of Canada none of which comes with any claims of sleep deprivation, medication side effects or too much alcohol.

I'm not a Green Party fan and have never been overly impressed by May still can't get worked up over this tempest in a tea-pot.

Some politicians and other at top appear to have a n excess of spirit ... and very little soul of community ... or it is unseen! Thus pointed wisdom ... a different form of Eros as it comes up as dissonance ... once known as Eris a displaced word now ... as afar dispensation/ de semi nation, or that witch comes in half with the other part? Some think the other is beta ... but then that is perspective of which is anal subject and which is verbalized as nice object ... a literary device of gravid attraction when you see it goon? Shakespeare referred to it loosely as Bottom of the Midsummer Night's Dream ... two cheeks to grasp to assist in grasping the very edge of reality? The wisdom of the snaky that get around in dark places ... like a nice flowery hat to get round your head?

These are probably all signs of something else going on in grassy old open places ... an ancient expanse? Humans tend to be so closed for they fear what they know ... as the bible said that knowledge is evil and the tree of life is isolated ... why psyche is out of 'ere and we aren't really that thoughtful?

Should one face their fears as a Roman that is conditioned to hate all others so as to be useful in war?

Quick, love "M" ladies before he conquers yah ... just like that old axiom: "To really learn to love, get close to something hated!" Somebody said that was Buddha, or M Ghandi ... I don't admit to knowing as knowledge is said to be bad for yah. Look what King Henry VIII did to Thomas More thought in private ... he was beheaded for not telling Henry what he thought of Henry's efforts to get rid of his "ans" his periods with his Merry wives?

He lost his head for errs of omit-ance ... the things that bug yah as antes, or the former woman in your life! Now the grandmother in yah is genetically imprinted ... right in the core ... and god you know chi'll haunt you in the dark ... that ancient conscience!

Some people deny it as if it were part of the incarnate psyche ... that which appears as it isn't ... just a hole in physical space that travels along as a bit of vacuous non-material or otherwise in-substantial?

Such is the believe of really physical people that do not behave as sponge Bob .. a thing you can float in a vessel to soak up Siemens power ...

Semitic people used almond pits on camels for birth control ... possible reason why camels are irritable ... almonds are like humans at the top of the toxic tree with organic arse Nick! St Nick is said to have done things to eliminate maiden ship in ladies of old ... he gave them gold to attract mates .. and this too may be some form of Erotic metaphor especially if you find language sexy and fu' de for the mind!

Does your mate speak of peculiar things after the big embrace? With a little redaction things become th' 'ighs to be investigated! As Thessalonians I 5:21states: "test all things!" Can you just imagine? That could disrupt thoughts and reason ...

John A. Macdonald was a guest at those dinners, He would normally be sloshed at a church service. I can't imagine what condition he must have been in at a press gallery dinner.

It was probably his general condition which gave rise to such affairs.

Come to think of it, explains why the Senate as the chamber of sober second thought was thought to be necessary.

Worked up? Nah, just adding to my overall impression.
Being a little loopy is one thing, but unless she ad libbed that she had a least two chances - when writing and then when actually giving. When someone tries to usher you off, it's probably best to take a hint.

My impression loupe-EI is a prerequisite for all jobs involving polity (extremes)! Yah gotta be a bit of a dog ...

She was trying to be a parody of herself and it didn't work. Most often she is seen as one in Parliament who doesn't swear and tries to be kind; just a nice, honest person. She has had a couple of odd moments but so have others and they are quickly forgotten. I believe Justin Trudeau has sworn once or twice, Charlie Angus...and although I don't think the PM or his party has ever sworn on record, there are plenty of times that they haven't been kind or gracious with their barbs towards colleagues in other parties - and that's in parliament not at a dinner event known for embibing and engaging in comedy speeches. I just read in some article "politics is a blood sport" and maybe May isn't cut out for blood sports which is why this moment in her career is so awkward. That fact doesn't lose her any respect in my book, even if others think her weakness at blood sports is a sign of poor leadership qualities. If all politicians in the world were as cooperative and fair and honest and hardworking and reasonable as her the world would look a lot nicer, would be a nicer place, but that's not how politics in this world works. Given that, it's rather ironic but not surprising how she's getting dragged through the mud.
