Looks like Alberta Party might get a seat. At the current state, it's not a party I could support. Interesting to see where they might go in the future though. Hopefully they start to be taken more seriously.

It's unwarranted fear of the "socialist" boogeyman.
To some extent.
There are also those who came to Alberta, happy to leave areas with NDP governments.
There is also a huge difference between the provincial and federal parties - I think some are quick to view them much more similarly that what they are.

My riding has been called. NDP more than 3x the lead. PC & WR are really close for 2nd. I'm surprised by the strong lead - although this could be very area-dependent, so we'll see when more polls are counted.

I think much of the rest of Canada sees it differently from the outside, because AB has been Harper's province.

Hopefully this results in some really good changes. I'm not too optimistic, but we'll see what can be accomplished with the health care system.

Not really. People aren't thrilled with Harper here. Politically they just go for the federal conservative party - Harper or not.

Thats what they said about the provincial conservatives as well. Now look the PC are a third party without any relevance.

Ottawa really has screwed over Albertans in various ways in the past. I think it's pretty understandable.
They've screwed over everybody in various ways in various years. Nevertheless, I think Alberta in the past 9 years has been Canada's political epicenter because of Harper, whether Albertans realized it or not. What happens there in terms of political mindset matters a lot for everyone.

*imagines the oil sands being turned into a drumheller-like museum, teaching future generations aboot geology, land management, the water cycle, how to dig a cool tunnel, tar chewing, land reclamation, diy biomaker faires and powwows*

It started to get more personal though, when it came to things like individual grants under agencies such as NSERC. I'm not familiar with anything as decimating as how certain towns were affected by the NEP. It's in the past, but go a generation older than me and it's difficult for them to not see things through that lens.

Even more recently, with the recession look at where bailout dollars went - car factories ok. Due to political attitudes across Canada it would be much less likely to see that within the oil & gas sector.

I don't know those acronyms.
