I remember thinking thatbought cookies were super special as we JUST had homemade.
Mom baked a lot.
It was rare for their not to be cookies.
Dessert was a key part of dinner.

It wasn't fancy, but, dang, it spoiled me for baking.

Somewhat relevant, we had a bit of a "baby shower" at work for a woman going on mat leave and someone provided some rather nice brownies. I stuck to one but it was tempting. Also had Ontario strawberries with a selection of ice creams.

So far this year, we've had two wedding showers and a baby shower. Funny, because we went a long time without a lot of people getting married or having kids after having a lot of family things happening when I started. Just like my neighbourhood, my office seems to be starting to get young again. People who started with me or before (mostly boomers and Gen X) are retiring, new positions are getting filled by millennials or even Gen Z.

Yeah, after what you've been through, not worth risking. Hazmat seems like overkill but I might go there, too, if I had to deal with poison ivy or similar.

Hah, I will need a photo when all done up.

The advantage is that it is a disposable item.

In the fall, it will be easier to identify as the leaves turn red.
Will wear protective gloves under the garden gloves as well, and then ditch the gloves.
My hunter boots will be fine, as they can we washed.

The issue with poison ivy is that exposure increases your likelihood of responding and the severity of such.

Did you buy a flame thrower as well?

Good morning! We're in the middle of the week, Wednesday. Heat still a factor in tis area, and now also we have air quality alerts, from incoming smoke. A good day, if possible, to stay in. We talked yesterday about baking, hazmat suits, and clearing out poison ivy come the fall. I didn't know that disposable hazmat suits existed, but it does make sense to me.
We gather round the Coffee Cart for our usual (and unusual, at times) chat, support, and connecting; as well as coffee and tea. This morning the wondrous Wonderbaker has provided us with squares of various types, and brownies to enjoy. The tea water is boiling, and the coffee is freshbrewed; the goodies are warm from the oven. All is ready, everybody is welcome. Come join in the fun!

Sorry, Mrs. A's post immediately conjured that image.

Between heat and bad air, this is definitely going to be a day to hunker down indoors if you can. It was like walking into an oven when I went to the garage to take out the trash last night. Vibes to outdoor workers like the garbage collectors.

Great suggestion, but....you don't burn poison ivy.

Burning poison ivy aerosolizes its rash-causing oil, urushiol. This allows the toxin to cling to smoke particles and ash, which can cause severe, widespread rashes on your skin and potentially life-threatening respiratory distress if inhaled into your lungs. (Mayo clinic)

Mother nature poses so many hazards for us to learn about ... unless you're rash about learning and wish to control everything which puts the hazard within your confines ... be cautious about what you consume ... it is a process they tell me ... but many tell me I know nothing.

It is a challenge ... grasping a small bit ... the way it goes by ... in bits! Many say they had enough when there is no end to it ... as I've said before who was out there to build a physical confinement? The spirit of examination ... thus we look into it! Some don't ... thus items unseen ...

The smoke seemed to be staying North and East of us but glancing outside, looks like it is moving in now. The sky has definitely changed since I was out picking up lunch when it was still quite blue and sunny.

I'm told the sky in Egypt can take on weird shades ... as Egypt has been known as the land of imagination in the past! Thus a lot of creation of Zenon things ... a gas?

Air quality pretty bad here— parks, outdoor pools and splash pads closed today. Grandson and I spent time at the library instead of going on a hike.

One of my sisters near Toronto posted a photo on FB of what the sky looks like looking out her front door. It's yellow orange

Ours is getting there now, too. I saw a livestream of downtown Toronto on CTV's News channel on YouTube and it looked almost post-apocalyptic.
