CARNEY - Some people think......... How do you feel?

The growth of inequality in a society results in a host of morbid symptoms, eroding social cohesion, increased political polarization, declining trust in institutions and loss of social mobility. The resentment, status anxiety and reduced trust created by neoliberal economic conditions have been channelled by cynical right-wing populists towards a host of imaginary enemies – from immigrants and refugees, to journalists and universities, to queer students, and teachers in public schools. Regardless of the target, authoritarian populism thrives on the desperation, uncertainty and helplessness generated by unequal economic conditions. Carney’s program will only exacerbate these trends.

Deduction is caused by those that take more than is normally required to give living balance ... these folk believe they are winners while deducting the support system as they can't see if for blinding emotions ... so it went ... presence is upon us as a filmy future ... a caul!

Losing is an unseen production causing rapid turn-over of workers that do not have time to process ... thus un th' unque ... no bumps?

From heh who the thrashing never ends ... as most didn't wish to understand ... dumb love is best for them! Is it flat black like shadows in the mourning ...

Carney is clearly a strong neo liberal using resistance to Trump as a cover for increasing disparity. In Canada and serving the International wealthy class at the expense of ordinary Canadians including workers and Indigenous people.

He's a banker and pro-capitalism economist by background. I don't think a warning should be needed. Someone with that background is naturally going to be debt-averse and corporate friendly.
It was about how the austerity hit people lower on the socioeconomic ladder. I can’t remember where/ who was talking about it - a vlogger/ podcast maybe.

Austerity always does, at least the way Western governments insist on doing it. There's ways it could be done without that impact but the political will to do it that way (cutting things like defense and corporate tax breaks instead of social and environmental programs) is lacking in most of the G7, not just us. The current global mess doesn't help because it can easily be used to justify defense spending. And the Bloc, who could be the ones tilting things in another direction, seem more interesting in forcing Quebec's "secularization" agenda on the rest of us.

Yeah, except from my pov, Quebec is problematic because of MAiD and the provincial court cases there that should’ve been challenged in federal Supreme Court.

Nursing homes there during Covid were exposed as horrible and they’ve got the highest MAiD rate in the country. There is a correlation - the Truchon case was based on his feelings about being in a nursing home.

Just had a vagrant thought cross my mind. Neoliberalism dominates most of Europe and North America. If a people first party or movement with an economic strategy based on facts gained power in one NATO country, would other NATO countries intervene?/

Not sure. The fact that a few cities in Canada are bidding to host the NATO Defence Bank - if one of them wins the bid, then I feel like it’s doubtful that our government will move away from the status quo. It’s a move to protect the neoliberal capitalist world order.

I don’t want that HQ to be here. It’s a flexing (as in muscle) move - symbolic because we don’t have any (but I guess our leaders are building it) and Trump is fickle and volatile with what he supports or not on any given day -and I think it could invite problems. Europe can handle it better - they’re older and more experienced with hosting new international agencies and changes over the past 80 years. Everything’s there already.

No reason or justification for them too unless that party seized power through violence or started attacking other NATO countries, which would then trigger Article 9. As long as they are elected and not causing trouble outside their borders, I don't think NATO would risk the split that would result from acting against a democratic government. More likely, you would see the US and some of its allies applying economic and diplomatic pressure to get them to "toe the line" and quietly pouring money into the opposition. Though with the current administration in Washington, who knows?

Reason is not a popular item ... as it goes against great wills of the wealthy! Then they see no reason for reactions ... and they come on blindly ... out of the dark and abstract! History is rewritten as a joust ... bring on the mules! They are about disposal ... ever see a donkey against coyote?

HAPPY 333RD DAY INCARNATION!
The Davos technocrat re-incarnation.

Front and center among the red flag petals.

Same technocratic smile waving the new world order straight into Beijing's harbor.

Given the current state of the 50 stars to the South of us, I am quite fine with improving our relations with the five stars. Yes, my relationship has a role to play in that, too, but having family there also has given me an understanding of China that I find is quite lacking in the West. Frankly, I think we are still seeing them through the lens of colonialism to some degree. The Opium Wars and Boxer Rebellion still loom large in our relations with them, even if many of us are unaware and unconscious of those events.
