Eby said that meeting with agents of another government to discuss their possible support before and after separation was treasonous (I don't actually think that language was all that helpful) not just asking the question. Though I recall similar language being used by some during the various uptick in separatist fervor in Quebec as well.Asking the referendum question is not treason by any stretch of legal precedent.
Anyone that says it is is rage baiting.
fAct is, because ALberta would be a totally non-viable independent state, particularly once oil takes it next big crash, the separatists math is highly flawed. As a separate nation Alberta would be in a financial disaster. APart from that the whole "Alberta has been so badly treated by Otawa" line is a complete and total whiny farce.
When she was Premier Rachel otley comented on how sometimes Alberta is seen as the spoiled whiny childe (forget her exact words) in Confederation. I would say one of, with Quebec being another. Conservative politicians here were outraged that she was impunging the image of this jewel of the country. IMO (and I waa raised in Alberta from the time I was 2 then spent 9 years in NWO before returning) Notley was right, and the spoiled whiny image has gotten stronger for the last 10 years, egged on by the UCP governments under both Kenney and SMith.
