Sad and worried for your news, Jayne. Hugs.

Busy day here today. Spent the morning helping our church gardener put the garden to bed, acquiring a lot of green tomatoes, a considerable volume of kale and TOO MANY LEEKS. I've just finished processing the kale for freezing. Most internet wisdom re freezing leeks suggests blanching and freezing whole leeks. Seems like it would be an easier product to use if I cleaned sliced and fried or roasted in some butter/oil, then fried in small flat packs.

Dropping off some baking for tomorrow morning, some butter tarts and scones. I'll let a more early bird get the water on tomorrow. I still have a lot of dishes to do.

How do you get too many leeks? I tried growing them the second year, they are not even the size of a pencil…..

Bad leek age or growing at the wrong time? Fun with God is the WORD! It is all we have and the only thing left when we are gone ... make a mark on your bones for ID!

Good morning, all! He's back! Thanks to those who handled the coffee duties whilst I was away. Today we think of those with health issues, particularly those dealing with cancer. As we gather round the Coffee Cart, let us converse, support, and connect in good ways. The tea water is boiling, coffee has finished brewing, and the bakery has supplied cinnamon rolls for our enjoyment. All is ready, and everyone is welcome. Come join the fun!

Aaaand here we go. Special Weather Statement out for my area. 2-10 cm of the white stuff (no, not my dandruff) on Sunday. And I am supposed to be driving back from an event in the GTA that morning. :cautious:

I'm about to put on the winter tires. They've only got a season left in them so I've been waiting, but seems I waited too long.

Booked mine the other day but my garage (where the winters are stored) is booking two weeks out.

I just did my truck. My wife's car isn't important.

If you want to come over Sunday afternoon, I'll change them. Rumour has it, I have the tools.

And it's not like I enjoy the work, but I have major trust issues. And I can do it faster than driving and waiting. And, it was an excuse to buy more tools. Which brings us to one of life's great rules: He who dies with the most tools, wins.

I suppose you folks don't want to know it's 12 degrees and sunny here.....

I'm glad everyone is safety conscious and getting snow tires.

I was going to go to an annual craft sale with friends this afternoon. It’s one of those huge ones. I decided I needed another recovery day. Just doing things around here, like having a shower have been more tiring than necessary.

I don't remember what a slothful day is like, and I can't see one in the foreseeable future.

Fortunately, I do not get up very early most mornings, but by the time I got to the church for 12 for cabbage roll making, I had made beds, made lists (which didn't include the tire guy I was supposed to call per Big Guy's prequel), shopped for a few ingredients missing for soup and dinner prep for tomorrow, made 6 quarts of soup for church sale next weekend (put together, not cooked), worked at the church making cabbage rolls from 12-4, came home, put soup on to cook, went out to pick up takeout, put finished church soup in labelled containers then into freezer, then prepped a large dish of scalloped potatoes and refrigerated for cooking tomorrow, and made an apple crumble pie (the big guy peeled and sliced apples and potatoes), which is cooling. Half the dishes done. Tomorrow a.m. I need to do the week's grocery shopping and put away, work 10:30 - 3:30, finish readying dinner for 5 (big guy will cook potatoes, sweep and mop floors and look after ham, but I need to make broccoli and salad and clean bathroom). It's 9:24 and I still have a few dishes, overnight oats and tomorrow's coffee to make. Rinse and repeat. It's no wonder I need so much frigging sleep.

I'm tired just reading your activities

It's an odd rhythm, for sure. But it requires an average of 10 hours sleep a night, and it's generally accomplished in increments of 20 minutes of frenetic activity followed by 10 minutes of tea drinking/reading (at home moreso than church work or cashier work).

So am I. @Waterfall are you among those of us who are tired just reading Bette's day?
Definitely, but I'm in a "different place" than Bette right now....I've slowed down to a crawl practically, from a life that was more active at one time....not by choice but by my body. So there's a bit of, "you go girl" for Bette, and a lot of "phew" where's my couch..if that makes sense?
