junior bought them a camper, but the cushions were old and smelly, so I got the job to make new ones. They needed to be 4” thick- but to save some money I bought a 2” thick foam piece and thought I could just take it double. However, now I am thinking- how do I keep those two pieces together? First I thought of pulling thread through and have buttons on both sides- but then- its also a mattress to sleep on- so possible, those buttons could be noticed like the princes on the pea….
Can foam be glued together? Sew just a really tight fitting cover and hope it doesn’t shift in it?
My sister, the textile queen, offers this,

"I don't know of a glue for foam. There are so many different chemical possibilities in the production of foam.
Best bet it a really tight cover I guess. Or... cover each piece and leave an edge like a pillow sham and sew the edges together?"

My friend said you can glue depending on the density of the foam. She was guessing the foam wasn't the high density stuff she'd be using. I'd wonder about the chemical stuff too.

I actually used the button method. One button on each side and a strong thread to pull them together.that brings them slightly underneath the surface as well. I think it will be fine. I only did it on the four corners and one in the back, so anybody sitting on it will not sit on the buttons. Now I have to figure out how to sew the covers.
