We're home now. The doctor could see hubby's finger bone so she got an xray to make sure there wasn't a bone chip because that would be a risk for a bone infection. It was fine thankfully. Both dog and hubby have antibiotics as a precautio.
 
Good morning! Hoping that Mr. Northwind and their dog will recover fully. Not the way to spend a springtime Saturday, for sure. We gather today round the Coffee Cart sending vibes for healing, and support for all those concerned. We indulge in comfort food, like coffee, tea, and cinnamon buns. The coffee is fresh brewed, tea water is ready to use, and buns are warm from the bakery. All is ready, all are welcome. Come in and join the conversations!

I had a similar experience with a dog over 50 years ago and it was rough! I wasn't hurt at all but the pup needed many stitches.

He recovered nicely both physically and emotionally. It slowed him down for a few days but he got his regular, goofy personality back.

Healing vibes for all of you.
 
I've been told that there are no such things as night terrors and such essence ... and then we hear what has happened at a festival in Vancouver as if everything was normal ... maybe just an abstract night mare? Some people cannot see these things and do not believe in them ... they just aren't ...

Can corruption live among us as a defect in our consciousness? Conscious ... what's that?
 
Good morning. My injured family members are doing okay. Puppy cried a bit during the night and this morning. She's flopped on the floor right now chilling. She's not a fan of the cone which is a problem in a small space.

I've decided I'll go to the park office tomorrow to give them an update. I didn't know the name of the dog when I called them yesterday, even though I knew which dog it was. We learned last night the dog attacked another dog and apparently the owner was told to muzzle the dog. There was no muzzle on the dog and apparently the owner said he couldn't find one. Bosley's (Pet Valu) is in the nearby plaza and they sell muzzles. The site they're in is big and it looks like there's a path from the one road to the next. Apparently it isn't a path. One person was suggesting they mark it clearly that it's not a path. While this may be okay, it let's the owner off the hook. The dog lunged at hubby and our girl from 20 feet. Clearly the tie out was too long for a dog aggressive dog.

At any rate, I will be filing a proper complaint at the office and I will be calling the city when I know the man's name.

Already known to be aggressive and the dog was on a 20' lead with no muzzle? If the park and city don't act, consider lawyering up. In situations like that the dog should be seized and the owner hit with a restraining order preventing them from owning pets.
 
Hope Mr Northwind and Baela are recovering from the attack. Dog bites attract the attention of Public Health in this province. They are very diligent about figuring out what happened and why. Many dogs that attack are euthanised. Good to get treatment for both victims. Bites are nasty infection spreaders. Wishing you all a comfortable, pleasant day.

Hmm m..I wrote that early this morning. It is now almost dinner time. Apparently I neglected to post it!

Sending healing vibes towards your campsite and a very special doggie treat for poor Baela. The owner of the offending dog deserves a consequence for what he allowed to happen. Notify the authorities before the dog attacks someone else - sounds like it could kill a small child.
 
Well apparently Baela is the talk of the park. A lot of people heard the fight. Of course our friends network knows. Dog is also known around here so even if people don't know us, they know about her. A lot of friends came by to check on her this morning when I was at church and hubby was here. When I got home she was under the trailer. Apparently the visits were exhausting. Our neighbours have a golden and a Bernese Mountain dog. The goldie is a barker and gets the other guy barking. Their people are working on that. Baela wasn't bothered by that this morning. That's a relief.

I checked the bylaws for the city. There is no breed specific muzzle law. If a dog is deemed to be aggressive it is required to have a muzzle, be leashed at all times and supervised. The park says dogs must be leashed and not noisy or aggressive. Hubby went over to the place where the dog lives and they weren't home. Apparently they've put up a beware of dog sign. I wonder if the park spoke to them. I will go to the office tomorrow when the managers are there. They have more power than the weekend staff and will presumably make the best decision.

Have you verified the attack dog is up to date with its shots? Especially rabies?
 
This whole thing makes me mad/sad @Northwind. My dog was attacked once while we were walking on the road. The dog ran out and attacked while a young lady (dog owner?) watched helplessly. Police and Humane Society were no help. I was on my own to pay the vet bilI. I could have approached the dog owner to pay but I didn’t. I avoided that street in future walks. Your case is much more severe and needs appropriate action.

We've only heard from a second hand source. Rabies is low risk around here at least.

We had a good chat around the campfire this afternoon. We learned a ton of things about this couple. Apparently they are not fine upstanding folks. :( Hubby went over to that person's site to talk to the man. He didn't seem to be home. Hubby took a photo of his licence plates so we have some information to give to animal control.

I will be going to the office with the dog tomorrow. The managers are dog lovers and this park has strict rules. They won't be pleased about an aggressive dog in the park.

Good morning! Glad that the family members involved in the dog incident are recovering, those the poor dog looks rather sad. Hope the reporting goes smoothly and that corrective action takes place. We gather together round the Coffee Cart with this in mind, as well as whatever thoughts and events may happen today, for discussion and support, and camaraderie. Also we drink tea and coffee, and today indulge in Timbits of every kind. The tea water is ready, coffee is freshbrewed, and the goodies are abundant, and nicely warm. Collective usually gather in a knot ... that appears evil to the straight out until ... a use is made of the holy humor! Twas a funny thing as it lasted ... and none wished to see the end thus eternity ... virtue all unseen incomprehensible ... maybe because mortals don't make much sense ... at least to the immortals gathering the perspective from out there!

Can an outside case be construed as farce ide ... with a fink as king? Function of ink? Thus wrote off ... in a secret box or wardrobe ... unseen? Perhaps a compartment in the great Wahl ...
 
I am one lucky lady. My niece …an RPN…came to my wound care yesterday because I was worried that I had more pain and was going backwards. When health things happen to us it is usually a first and only time and we don’t know what to expect. And we are generally left on our own. She told me that things looked really good. So that banished the anxiety and I slept well. Happy election day to my Canadian friends!
 
Having health care in the family always nice. My brother-in-law in Shanghai is a doctor by training (switched careers, it's a long story) and helps family members with health stuff, both with his knowledge and also connections he has from his med school days.
 
Greetings on this rainy day. I went down to the park office tomorrow officially report the attack on our dog. The manager wasn't there this morning. The owner heard us talking from another room and came in to join the conversation. There were other people in the office who added information to support the fact the other dog is aggressive. We also submitted a report to the city animal control. Apparently it will get assigned to an officer or something. We'll see how it goes from here.
 
I forgot to mention that dog is more like her usual self today. She's wagging her tail more and has some spring in her step. We've even seen her goofy side. It's great to see. There were several men in the office and she was happy to let them pet her. I was glad she wasn't afraid of them.
