Alas few understand much ... and you can confuse them easily with alien stuff like word ... word is like that!
 
I tried to get my friend signed up online to see her CPP contributions. First we got error messages so often that it locked her out for 24 hrs to get a personal access code. Then we tried to get a GCkey, went through a lengthy process, just to end up having to put the access code in that we couldn’t get.
So Monday, she will be going to the office and speak to a person.
I read that Denmark is the most digitalized country in the world. Everything gouvernment is online and as of December 2025 they will no longer have a public mail/ letter system. The letter mail has shrunk by 90% so it’s no longer viable. There are private services you can use.

Good morning! Happy Friday! How is everyone? CPP computer portals, the mail, Germany and Denmark, twin theory, and all the other stuff from yesterday, plus whatever we can think of today, comes with us to the Coffee Cart, for conversation and support. We also indulge in coffee and tea, and doughnuts of various kinds. All is ready, everybody is welcome. Coffee is fresh brewed, tea water is ready. Come in as you can, have a mug or cup, and a doughnut, and join in the conversation!

Nice here. Still chilly but the sun is out. We had a light blast of winter yesterday but not too terrible. Only working a half day today since the car has to go in for an inspection and I hate working from the dealer's waiting room.

I had heard that the Danes were pretty far along but that they've reached the point where public post is no longer needed is ... wow. We still have a ways to go there, though things are improving. I discovered this past election that Elections Ontario now has an app and you can use it as your voter card so that's a step forward (they still mailed out the old paper cards, though). I get very little of consequence in the post.

The one that irks me still is that my investments are apparently still required to send snail mail pointing out that we can request financial statements and annual reports through the post if we prefer that to getting them online through the fund company websites. I wish the OSC would allow us to request that those come by email because that's a lot of paper that mostly ends up going straight to the blue bin.

And then there's the city tax statements that are still paper but that's only two mailouts a year so I'm not as fussed about them.

And I'm hoping paper tax slips are going away soon given you can now download your slips from CRA and import them directly into your tax software. Again, I know some people still do their taxes on paper and need those paper slips but for those of us using software, let us tick a box requesting to receive email notification of when slips are ready rather than mailing them. I'd be happy to download them as PDFs (and do for my T4 from work and some of my investments).

We have our own sourdough firm here. Sourdough is quite popular here. Its health benefits are touted. I enjoy the taste.
