I'm putting this one into religion; however, it could go into Pop and Chips

Cynthia Erivo will be playing Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar

This gentleman phones in and feels it is blasphemous

A female playing Jesus makes as much sense as a female playing General Patton in a remake of the famous Patton movie.
It's a woke joke that will go broke!

That is really awesome. And kinda fits in with ancient iconography around Jesus. Especially if you look at some of the Eastern Orthodox iconography, you'll see lots of representation of Jesus as an androgynous or even hermaphrodite figure.
Is it Christian iconography? I'd never heard that before.....although I suppose the holy Spirit is thought to be feminine?

All opinions on it can be true

Lighten up -- life is short!

So yes, it is Woke and yes, it is Blasphemous and yes, it is [insert opinion]

You know one of the things I do, my hobby? I get to know someone's cosmology

Not is it right or is it wrong or is it too unwoke or is it too uncaring or whatnot...

Get to know the person etc

Their wants
Needs
Desires
Griefs
Sadnesses

Why I don't generally join org groups -- they get too caught up in politics eventually

Or what happens when more and more of life becomes Political, so sitting on a seat can become a secular sin or how one's skin colour can be a bad thing or etc etc etc

OMG, one of my favourite Jesus Christ Superstar productions is the Arena version from the U.K. Black woman plays Mary Magdalene, Indian guy as Jesus.

Hmm, there is also the notion of Jesus as the Mystick Hermaphrodite

I seem to recall that comes from Hermeticism?

Aand taking human biology, if Jesus didn't have sperm donated, that would mean he is a clone of his mom

Thus XX

Thus trans!!!! :)

and limnal beings are better at doing magick, since magick is aboot thwarting the rules of reality *waggles eyebrows*

ROCKIN!!!

Oh, don't know what I would do with Holy Teats...

(tho I guess Xie could turn their SWEAT to WINE??? Might be good at parties???)

The ones I have now I enjoy quite a lot

I have even got to experience motorboating which was HILARIOUS and GIGGLY FUN

A little factoid for you, you ancient demented gremlin: women can be generals now, and if the Met can put an opera in another country and culture from its original, creative re-makes of films are allowed.

Ah Bette, you've outdone yourself.

Let's look at the big picture. The beauty of art lies in its ability to transcend traditional boundaries.

Jesus' message was fundamentally about love. He challenged societal norms. In that spirit, having a woman portray Jesus offers a fresh view, connecting us to his teachings in a great way.

Let's embrace such an idea as a woman portraying Jesus as a chance to deepen our appreciation of the Good News. After all, Jesus’ love knows no bounds.

That having been said, the question remains as to whether Cynthia Erivo is the right actor for the role
