My bet is that the next campaign will cut both ways, with PP continuing to hammer the Liberal record while the Libs try to paint him as Trump Lite and beholden to his party's right wing and the West. Actual policies and promises may get get short shrift.

Me thinks Mr. Trump underestimates the difficulty in getting his own country to accept a 51st state, let alone us. Look at the neverending battle over Puerto Rico.

And why would Canada be only one state? That means only two Senators for an area bigger than the entire extent USA. Should be 10 states, maybe 13 if you count the territories.

“The Governor General’s decision to allow a prorogation is a betrayal of the essence of Canadian democracy. Intentionally or not, she has allowed herself and her office to be used as the Liberal party’s stool-pigeon.

The prime minister’s request for prorogation permits him to flee Parliament. He would be trying to escape the wishes of the people and their representatives. This is the moment for which we provide the special reserve powers of the governor general — to prevent a government from running away from the will of the people’s representatives.”

What happens to the capital gain tax bill that hasn't been passed?
Does Trudeau keep his riding?

And why would Canada be only one state?
Why even annex Canada at all?

Offer natural-born Canadians a fast-tracked path to US citizenship. Match CPP to Social Security and offer to convert savings $1CAD to $1USD (as was suggested by @ContrarianTribe)

I would take up that offer and move.

The bill dies on the order paper (see my post upthread about the implications of proroguing)

That's up to Trudeau. His status as an MP is independent of his status as party leader. Normally, an outgoing leader also resigns his seat, but then you've got Joe Clark who stuck around and eventually became leader again.

So do you have several thousand dollars a year available for health insurance and co pays? Not to mention Social Security is in the crosshairs of many MAGA voices as an excessive expense.

I think Trump has so much crap on his plate, that we can just brush off the threat of him "taking over Canada".
This isn't even a serious thing IMO.
Why do people think anything Trump says is real?

Canada is not an international joke,
I deliberately said TRUDEAU is an international joke.

Unfortunately Canadians are left holding the bag.

Trudeau should have called an election.

What he did instead was this.

“It is one of the most irresponsible and selfish acts of a government in Canadian history.” - Danielle Smith
