It's been 20ish years since I was last in a crash and probably almost as long since I actually witnessed one. I always seem to show up in the aftermath. You handled that well, @JayneWonders.

Witnessed a car accident yesterday.

It was a busy road just before a road about. The person who was responsible kept driving so we followed. They did stop eventually to look at their car. We took photos of car and advised driver we witnessed and the person he hit was waiting at the roundabout.

He didn't seem in a hurry to go back.

Saw the person who was hit and they had just given up and were driving away. We followed them, caught up and flagged them over.

They were so thankful

Newer vehicle, front bumper and fender damaged (at least)
Thank you for your assistance to the owner of the damaged car. Hopefully there will be unpleasant legal follow ups for the offender.

Driveway is shoveled, new snowblower, which is bigger than me, has been delivered and installed in garage. Original owner is coming for tea and instructions on its use tomorrow afternoon. Wish me luck this winter. It's going to be a season of slush removal from what I can see.

How awesome that you were given a snowblower. Hopefully it has self-drive. If so, all you have to do is steer. The hardest that i found was when I had to make tight circles. I loved doing it, but, generally my husband did it. (still does, though driving the ATV is kinda fun)

It was very sweet of the sister. However, after today's lesson, I think she might be scooting over here to help, and we've certainly agreed that I won't try next snow solo. It's a 30", far more than my little driveway needs, and considerably outweighs me. My sister and I are siblings; however, she takes after Mom's sturdy English/Eastern European family while I have my Irish father's more pixie-ish frame. However, in 1st gear, with less panic and a bit of strategy, we may manage for big dumps and stuff the plow leaves. Mike thinks we should add a $100 electric snow shovel.

Good morning! Witnessing an auto accident and handling it well, receiving a snow blower, as huge as it is, and learning how to put it to use, all the thoughts that will come up today, we gather around the Coffee Cart to deal with it,, through conversation and support, and in drinking tea, hot chocolate and coffee, and indulging in squares and holiday fruitcake and other treats. All are welcome, all is ready, come onin and join the fun!

Lots of snowy adventures and challenges today. I have been spoiled and have never handled a snow blower. We own one but our son
stores it and brings it over to do our snow clearing.

Last night there was a concert in town. We enjoyed being entertained by Jeffrey Straker and his sister, Jill. The back up musicians missed playing for us as they were being very typical Saskatchewan folks and were stuck in a ditch. It was still enjoyable - lots of Christmas music and jokes.

Do fruitcakes love themselves to death so there is nothing further to extol? It just doesn't happen that they die so the suggestion is assimilation ... some assimilated to much at a past time ... non con temporal! Timeless it appears ...

Snow comes, snow goes. Above 0 with showers today so we are losing some of our snow. Sounds like winter is back by later in the week, though. At least they are just calling for flurries right now, which usually don't require me to pull out the shovel.

Do other folks' adult kids take forever to respond to messages? I emailed my son the plan for finally transferring my old Civic's ownership to him and still have not heard back. We'll need to do this when he is down for the holidays so I need some dates, then I can book an appt at Service Ontario. For f's sake, he initiated this after realizing he could get better insurance rates under the alumni plan at U of O.

Good morning. We may have had the last campfire for awhile. It looks like rain in our future for awhile. I'm not sure what today will bring.

Thanks for the coffee and goodies.

Went to price repairs to a brand new condo building. Most of the concrete work is terrible. Call me to inspect before you invest in one of these things. Yes it should be handled under warranty, but the subcontractors aren't responding and now they just need it done.

I feel sorry for people who buy into new condos then are hit with assessments in the first few years. It's criminal.

I am really tempted to go condo when we finally move but, yeah, I've heard some horror stories before. Probably better to get a resale where I can talk to some existing owners to get the skinny on the place rather than investing in a new build. Though Dad's third wife bought her condo during construction and that building seemed decent. I don't recall them talking about any issues on this scale. That would have been very early noughties, though (I took my son to their wedding so was after 1999, at least). I know the construction industry, at least around here, is now stretched very thin for skilled trades which is probably leading to corner cutting, use of inexperienced labour, and such.

New or old can come with surprises. Old buildings have looming repairs that cost big and have been delayed until they can no longer be ignored. I'm never going condo. As a contractor, I'm happy to charge for fixing them.

I'll retire to the ski club. I've got a workshop where I could start a little business building furniture, decks, additions, whatever, should I decide to keep working.

Maybe I can talk Little M into having a "Granny Flat" when they finally buy a house.:giggle: Though with the current housing situation, that's likely to be a while.

What a pair we are in this house today. We're like an old retired couple who just want to nap. Oh wait........
We can both relate to that. I am worn out from struggling to recognise people at the concert last night. It took me all morning to make some sausage rolls that are usually baking when we have a morning coffee break. That was followed by a three hour snooze. Still tired. I think I'll blame the grey sky.

Recovering from a busy week which included the last phase of a project (go-live on Saturday), and the joys of having my sister here for a week, and the emotional good-bye as she headed home.

She is doing amazingly better, but, still a long way to go.
Thankful for the time together.

Weather here, like for others, is foggy, wet, mucky grey mess.
ugh.

This week is wrapping up work, then intense sewing. lots to do in very little time.
