I read about that line when I was in high school and essentially "studying" comedians. I agree it's a great line. It obviously stuck with me.

I was in a lift line a few years ago. A group of women were talking right next to me. One must have been asked her age and she gave a similar response, "Approaching fifty."

Like some Pavlovian comedy dog, I immediately blurt out, "From which direction?"

I've never met these women in my life.

On that day, it bombed.

Good morning! Coaching and work woes, finishing a book and a BBQ, such fun around ages, and all the other things that arise as the weekend begins. Let the coffee and tea flow like water, and the muffins and doughnuts abound. Let the conversations be happy or sad or somewhere in between, serious or sappy, vital or trivial; may we chat, support, listen and care about each other. Let us drink tea and coffee, and indulge in the baked stuff, that the links of community may be made strong. Enjoy the company and the goodies!

Feliz Cumple Happy Birthday GIF by DINOSALLY
Happy Birthday, Paradox 3!

Happy birthday @paradox3 ! Hope it’s a celebratory kind of day. Cold, windy and rainy here today. I’m wondering if there will be a break in the weather for me to rake leaves.
On another note, Mom is in respite care and we are finding a few surprises. Like men’s shoes under her bed. And yesterday…a man in her room. He was closely followed by a PSW though. When I mentioned the man in her room 2 minutes later, Mom didn’t remember.

Can you imagine a man in your room/space giving a chance for escape? There is how it goes ...

There are those that would rather you not know how thoughts escape during a moment of intense excitement ... gives rise to a sage saying: "I don't know" while the determinate type claim to know ... allows divination between top and bottom ... complex transition!

Can you fit this in to The Notebook ... inscribed and lost in the myth ...

That's unnerving, was the man another patient?

My grandfather used to say the jumped up is like noting and then be bounced over things that he disliked ... as matter he knew nothing about ... he was a machinist ... was baffled by TV, Radio, Radar, etc. eclectic stuff about us ... all around as source of info ... yet corruptible ... that's power!

One has to work thro' it ... it is a toil given the resistance by what's layered out as thick! Intellectual fog ...

I think today will involve reading. I'm reading a book recommended by a YouTuber I follow, Shelbey Monae. The book is Sky Full of Elephants by Cebo Campbell. I'm just starting to understand the title. It's going to be hard to put this book down before it's finished.

Yes he was. And he’s one I see wandering the halls all the time.
I have been told that sexual activity as well as human contact is part of the life of long term care, especially in memory care.

It can be hard on the kids
It can be a problem as well

I have a story re my dad and him visiting a woman in a different home.
Also one from when it was determined he needed to move from long term care to memory care

Not easy to navigate Nancy

That DOES look interesting - I will read it. Thanks for sharing. I'm in the process of organizing a book study group of about 6 people who will commit to meet twice a month to slowly work our way through a variety of books over the course of a year - exploring the values and connections to our own faith traditions therein, and what we might be called to in terms of actions based on expanding perspectives. Should be interesting :-)
