Good day. It's starting out sunny. The park is full of people taking a break and camping on this Thanksgiving weekend. It might be chilly for some tenters. In my experience, those who tent from this part of the year onwards.

This morning is starting off more relaxed than yesterday. I received a phone call from the pharmacy late yesterday. They had looked into my concerns. There was a good explanation for the two week delay. He tried to take credit for sorting things out with the courier. He accepted and acknowledged that it was my efforts that got that sorted out. I appreciated the call.

I'm glad that it is sorted. Hopefully everyone involved is now aware of the best way to handle the delivery of meds to those who rely on them.
I phoned the biggest hospital in the province to re-order some meds. They said they would be here on Friday. They were. Actually they are a supplement that the pharmacy make up on-site as the quality is more reliable and the cost much cheaper than buying OTC. Sometimes our healthcare system works quite well.

I think part of this issue is it is through the drug company and pharmacy rather than through our provincial health system. I've had excellent care through the provincial system. I'm aware of its imperfections. In the case of cancer care, and likely other chronic conditions, it can step up. My meds up to this point have been covered by the province. Health professionals have been the ones coordinating them - physicians, pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, nurses. Now there are people who are probably glorified clerks involved. To be clear, good admin folks are worth their weight in gold. I'm glad they have responded to my concerns. That's how service improves.

Yeppers. The client service representatives in the branch offices at work are a vital part of our care to our patients. Unfortunately, good ones seem to be hard to find anymore given the amount of churn I've been seeing in that role of late.

Had a new experience today. Costco emailed me a recall notice for something we bought. Fortunately, we had not eaten it yet as it was a food item and the recall was for possible listeria contamination of chicken in it. We needed to pick up some stuff there anyhow so returned it promptly. Makes sense that they can do that given how their membership system works but still a bit of a surprise since I don't think it has happened before in the time we have been shoppng there. If you're wondering, it's this one.

Had my Korean neighbour kids over for some pumpkin carving. They are very shy and I think a bit overprotected. So using a knife was a daring thing for them- I made sure they kept their fingers out of the path of the knife. We also made cinnamon buns from a package so that they learned how and how to use the oven. We then made roasted pumpkin seeds and they enjoyed them very much. Everything was a success- and they took off with two pumpkins, pumpkin seeds and extra cinnamon buns and the knowledge of how to do it themselves.

Do you ever have a meal where your timing was off?
Dang,
Meal ended up ok, but not great.

Thankful that family was together.

Youngest son offered me a foot bath after everyone was gone and dishes cleaned up

It felt great, and 2 hrs later i startled myself awake from snoring and my feet were still in the bath

Guess i was tired

Now wide awake since 5

Good morning! Clean dogs, carved pumpkins, foot baths, and family and friends, along with good admins; lots of thoughts as we circle around the Coffee Cart for coffee, tea, biscuits and croissants. Come in and share your thoughts, and join in the conversations. The coffee is fresh, tea water hot, baked stuff warm. Come in and join the fun!

Our Thanksgiving meal was unconventional….we didn’t all sit down together. With a baby that needed to be nursed and a 2 year old who doesn’t sit or eat much, a 15 year old who camped out on a chair and fell asleep, and a 6 year old who has a cold and wasn’t hungry…it was a little chaotic. The meal though was good and traditional. The 15 year old woke up enough to say…Grandma, can I have some pumpkin pie and whipped cream?

Welp, glad I got my yard and garage work done because it wouldn't be happening today. Wet out there. Have a bit of cleaning to do and maybe hunker down and do some writing for the rest of the long weekend. I at least want to make notes for a setting idea I have. Might say more in my writing thread as it comes together. I do this a lot, though. Come up with a setting idea and then see if stories come out of it. My writer's notebook (currently in MS OneNote but playing with another product called Obsidian) is full of settings, mostly secondary fantasy worlds, that I have never used or maybe only used once.

Writtting ... put that down, they say! Thus creation of depths ... just over the edge of believable, by those fixated! Epistem ilated ... elation?

We're heading to my sister's for Thanksgiving today. We're providing the turkey in the form of a stuffed turkey roll prepared by a local butcher. We also bought their gravy. We'll be bringing a clean, fluffy, nice smelling dog. We'll also be voting in the early polls.

Voting- we are having municipal elections here- is that an all of Canada thing these days?

It is our provincial election right now. The official day is the 19th.

Friends of ours went to the all candidates meeting. Apparently there was a large group of convoy people. They were somewhat disruptive. Also, the room was hot and stuffy. I'm glad we didn't go.

So, welcomed my guy home today after a few days away. I made the pies for tomorrow's dinner and the jellied salad (oh, don't ask; there are marshmallows in it)...and we discussed what had to get done tomorrow. 7 people, at least 6 allergies/intolerances. Cow's milk allergy, gluten and soy sensitivity, coconut allergy, onion/garlic restricted, also no rice/pasta. So I have to make enough neutral stuff that no-one will starve. Thank godde there's no vegans.

It is. Fortunately the dairy allergy (which is mine, ffs) is cow, so we can play with goat and sheep. The scalloped potatoes will be sauced by a veloutine whitened by cashew milk and goat cheese. There will be a separate small one with no onions. Ham and 3 veggies and salad okay, The sweet potato pie is totally dairy, and a friend is bringing nice ice cream for it, but I made a blueberry pie and bought some coconut cream whipped stuff for it. *sighs*
