I think we are fine to wait for the scheduled election in October 2025. Certainly until next year. I don't see the urgency, myself. Now, if the report on foreign influence actually named names and someone senior in the government was involved? Then, yeah, I'd want to see the writ dropped right away. But that's the only thing I see on the agenda that would merit it.

I'd love to see a debate when we get closer to an election, because he does rely alot on tearing Trudeau apart.
I think he has mentioned a few housing solutions, without much detail.

Conservatives (small "c") have been using that language pretty much constantly ever since then, though, so I think it is more rhetoric than policy now. But, yeah, here in Ontario "common sense" has taken on a rather different meaning in politics.

So the conclusion is terminal: "do not trust anything that is powerful above the bottom line"! Yet if you express doubt the powers will get cha ... and you still will go down ... thus history is generated ... mythological ... only logical if thought clean thro' ... drain flush? I've often felt that way ... white matter!

Some new polls are suggesting that Trudeau leaving would not be enough to save the Liberals, at least per this story from the Post. The Post is not exactly the most unbiased of mainstream media but cites multiple polls, none of which seem to be commissioned by them, so I think they may not be too far off with their analysis.

That would assume he loses his riding. The Liberals could lose the election but he could still keep his own seat. We have seen that happen before. At that point, though, he would definitely be expected to resign as leader even if he remained in the House (Joe Clark stayed in the House even after losing the leadership so it could happen).

Face it people ... folks cannot get it together because of the force of assertion ... it is driven in by nihilists ... they nailed it in Hebrew ... onyx 'd ... and the glob grew!

Without clues because as a child you were directed on things you shouldn't know ... thus we didn't in an exponential move ... nothing changes ... it just appears to!

Last night has me realizing there is another reason not to go to the polls this year: Cross-border interference. Not the deliberate kind (that already happens with US activists of all stripes trying to get money and influence into our campaigns) but just having our election cycle going on in parallel with theirs. The US coverage could swamp ours and issues that are relevant mainly to them could incidentally end up influencing our campaign. So now I am thinking next Spring at the earliest since their election cycle doesn't really end until the Inauguration. And given the events of 2021, maybe not even then.

We have one of those here in Canada. Brian Peckford will be turning 82 this August.

In May 2022 I presented My Magna Carta at an earlier We Unify Conference on the steps of the Legislative Building in Victoria —a way to help restore our Democracy given that the Prime Minister and The Premiers lack the leadership, vision and courage for Constitutional change right now.

And there are important things we can do until we get some real leadership and Constitutional change.

From My Magna Carta We can insist now:

1. Accountable Political Parties —Publishing Annual Audited Financial Statements —details of where the money comes from and where the money goes,
2. That MP ‘s and MLA’s amend the Conflict of Interest Act in their jurisdictions whereby legislators who break the conflict of interest law cannot serve in the House of Commons or Legislative Assembly. Our PM has broken the conflict of interest law 5 times.

Do you know what these two measures, just these two, would do?

It would establish honesty, integrity among the political players, something we do not have right now. Citizens would become more trusting and less cynical.

Isn’t it amazing that this is not the standard.

The people must insist on it.

I have been following US politics and ignoring Canadian politics with that in mind.

Jasper brought me back. I watched Danielle Smith's emotional press release. The level of dehumanizing rhetoric leveled against her in the comments was appalling. That this tragedy is being used for political posturing is no surprise. I came across this article on X and thought it was worth factoring into the political blame narrative.

OTOH, her stand against taking action on climate change when her province is taking a lot of the impact of climate change does not look good and only plays well to her base, who seem to think the province can live off oil and gas forever. Perhaps they shouldn't be launching political attacks while the crisis is still ongoing, but when we get to the debrief at the end, oh yeah, let 'em rip.

Absolutely. I'm sure she felt bad about Jasper and I'm sure she has good memories of past visits there. That being said, it looked like she was milking the tears. The mayor of Jasper was also upset. His pain was more genuine in appearance.

Smith has allegedly cut the budget for fighting wildfires and had a lame response when asked about that yesterday. She's doing am "overhaul" of the health care system and has put a government official in charge of the health system. So much for small government. Alberta had a pretty good system. Like all health systems, there's always room for improvement. I don't believe her strategy will be an improvement and anyone I know who's involved with it in AB, including a retired nurse, hasn't had good things to say.

Good on Smith for answering questions. She looked better today and seemed more credible in what I saw of her.

I will not pretend to be objective about her for the record.
