Done. Please leave it in place. The conversation won't make sense otherwise.
Oh really? I will look it up.Maybe, then there's John 8:48-59 where he's accused of being a Samaritan.
I think in Jesus time, Nazareth was part of Samaria.Oh really? I will look it up.
I have never heard this but geography is not my strong pointI think in Jesus time, Nazareth was part of Samaria.
Maybe, then there's John 8:48-59 where he's accused of being a Samaritan.
Yes. This too. Also, many of Jesus' stories make no sense if he was a Samaritan.
Disappearing acts? I really need to give John's Gospel another go.Oh, that's a wyrd passage I often forget about. Is it mainly in John that he does all these disappearing acts?
What applies is the principle behind the saying. Be ready to let go of anything you have if that serves the well being of the community or the mission you have accepted serving. Do this thoughtfully.@jimkenney12 The question becomes then, how applicable are these ideas to our life and culture today?
The story of the Good Samaritan? Back in early Christianity many believed it was an allegory about Jesus. Also, many of Jesus' stories make no sense if he was a Samaritan.
That's true, but the Samaritans claim the Pharisees and rabbis changed the laws to make Judaism easier, while the Samaritans kept the more stringent laws.John 8: 48
The Judeans replied, "Aren't we correct in saying that you are a Samaritan and are possessed by a demon?"
He went to the Jerusalem temple and he often referred to the Law and the Prophets.
The Samaritan temple was elsewhere and they only considered the Torah to be scripture.
Maybe wondering why he was hanging out with the " other" Jews that didn't follow what they consider the original Torah? They claim the pharisees added to it and changed it.Jesus also slipped away when he was rejected at Nazareth (Luke 4.) The people wanted to throw him off a cliff but he slipped through the crowd.
