How old were you when you noticed your first grey hair?

My email said you had asked me a question about when I first noticed silvery (not grey) hair. I can't find your question. But I was (and still am) 81.
 
So I was thinking of putting some crazy colours in my hair - just for fun - to cheer me up - not sure if my whole head, but just a few. Some employers frown upon "unnatural colours" but my last one didn't care about that. In this neck of the woods it's not uncommon.

My roommate thinks I should go for it, my husband is A ok with the idea - whatever cheers me up - and my roommate said I could always die it brown in a pinch if I had to.

The closest I ever got was when I died my hair burgundy/ "cherrywood color" in the 90s and it faded to orange just before my friend's wedding and she freaked out (it has otherwise always been shades of blonde/ light brown) - and we ended up bleaching it into straw.

Should I? Pink? Blue?
 
well, my hair, at a glance, is still the same colour it was when I was a teenager. But i got used to a wife and then a daughter whose hair changed so much and so often, I had to ask for an introduction. I would always advice against a dye job. But I'm learned to keep my mouth shut.

I like pink and blue. Maybe blue on one side and pink on the other. Now that would look pretty cool. I almost had my head shaved bald but went with the stubble look instead. The grey hair isn't as noticeable now.:ROFLMAO:
 
I saw somebody the other day with beautiful, long - hot pink - hair. But she was only 20 something. I think I might look silly and draw too many funny looks. But a few streaks of some colour(s) would be fun.
 
Or, I once saw a woman about my age who had predominantly dark blond hair but a whole bunch of really thin wisps of multicolors in it - red, blue, green, pink, orange - like threads. Maybe the wisps were once gray hairs. But it probably cost her a lot and took hours to get it done.
 
Maybe not that style (hard to tell as it's all in her face) but I think the colours look great. I'm not so outgoing with my hair, it always ends up looking sort of the same - but I always wanted to be. :)

i've got some atomic pink around here, somewhere, that i was holding 'for that special occasion'

i think blue with pink tips would look neet

I'll be sticking to a fairly natural look. Lately, my issue has been trying to keep stuff off my hair and managing to get it to the scalp. It's been so itchy and painful, I don't know if it's because of extra water treatment due to runoff or what.

Hmm. Maybe...? I'm thinking I just want to start out small - with just a few well placed streaks. And I have to get it cut first - the ends badly need a trim.

I noticed that the water in Edmonton is harder. There's chlorine in it I think. It always tasted different and was harder on the skin. My roommate "washes" with cider vinegar and uses a good, nice smelling conditioner. She has really curly hair and she says it gets too dry for shampoo. She bought something called African Black Soap in the states, bar soap, multipurpose, that she uses sometimes too but said it caused a flakey reaction on her scalp at first. She's allergic to sodium laurel sulfate (which this soap supposedly doesn't have). She kept using it and it's fine now. I was going to try both the vinegar and the soap (the "no 'poo" thing seems to be a trend) but I think I'll stick to regular shampoo.
 
another good thing for dry scalps (and people with seborrhea -- i can get it bad -- i get sores on my scalp and skin collections/piles/plaques) i was taught by my Punjabi friends:

oil & lemon jooce

mix up oil (ordinary rapeseed oil or any vegetable oil) & lemon jooce

& pour it into your wet hair for at least 15 minutes (towel wrap to keep the oil from slithering where it wants to naturally go -- down)...the longer, the better

i tried it, it seemed to work, but i haven't continued it because of the ICKY feeling :3
 
It is fairly hard, although I find it's still a bit softer than Calgary's, so I'm fairly used to that. Something in it lately seems to be flaring up my psoriasis pretty badly, but just on my scalp, I have a few spots elsewhere, but they are minor.
I have been dealing with other skin issues too though.
I think lemon juice would just sting, I have been using some oil.
