Room For All

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

Good morning. A gentle rain woke me up in the middle of the night. It was a welcome sound. Our neighbour was also out there at 1:30 tinkering. I wonder if he was putting the tarp on the roof of his older RV. It's on the unit now and isn't as tidy as usual. It's still overcast and raining. We plan to visit am outdoor farmers market today. We may need umbrellas. That's not a bad thing in these times of drought.

I have had the most pleasant day. My "birthday week" which started with an intimate dinner last Sunday with daughter and beloved, and a private celebration on birthday day, culminates tomorrow in a birthday brunch for my special friends and sister. Two stratas: vegetarian and sausage pepper with local maple syrup, lots of fresh fruit, mimosas, pie and cake (cooked and cooled; he is icing and decorating tomorrow) and ice cream. Table is laid, stratas waiting to bake, dining room is dusted and decorated. Today was perfect. 25 degrees and mod humidity. Sometimes, summer in central Ontario is sorta perfect.

And falling madly in love at age 64 is not a bad thing at all. I feel very blessed.
Happy Birthday!! Not sure I'd want a full week of celebrations but sounds like great fun being had.

We just got home from an outing to the city. We visited a great farmers market in a school yard of a small community. Dog got adored by a lot of people and a couple treats. Then we went to a great park where dogs can be off leash. Dog had a great swim. Dog is pooped now. :)

Good morning! Happy Civic Holiday! Maybe you can take a civic to lunch today. Driving through tornadoes, to gentle midnight rains, farmers' markets, and all the rest of living, we bring it with us in spirit round the Coffee Cart. Let us join in conversations and hot beverages, all is ready. Reminder that maybe we should start thinking about the end-of-season barbeque, which will be coming up before you know it.

I do that every time I visit a gas station.:giggle:

So many people miss the quantum nature of a metaphor ... its just not the same as a simile and often we don't know why ... because of limits on our knowledge!

I have concluded I know nothing compared to the ultimate case ... even though intelligent folk are often thought of as crazy by the alternative sector! Here there appears to be no medium because both side shoot down anything suspected in the midst ... here nothing but chaos and dissonance ... often described in the past times as Eris or hair Izing ... blown!

Got up at 6 and started raking the last piece of my yard at 7.15. All done for now with what I can do. Need a lawn company next. Here a before and after pic.

I am hoping the poppies will come back and some of the golden oregano has survived.

Made my annual pilgrimage to our massive Arts & Crafts festival at the waterfront - Kempenfest.

Some great techniques: go just after it's been raining all morning, before crowds have accumulated; go with a goal (a specific blouse and a particular wine glass); arrange for drop off and pick up just off the Lakeshore. I was in and out in under two hours, not exhausted, irritated nor sunburnt. I have a lovely off white organic crinkled cotton baseball shirt to match the capris I bought from her last summer, a sleeveless cotton tank with a gold tree of life on it, and a beautiful porcelain wineglass, stemless, with the thumbprint to make it easier to hold. Blue glaze with a unique fine black pattern, a lovely dark slate grey inner glaze. Beautiful piece of work, which for $45 it frigging well should be.

Then big guy picked me up, and I came within seconds of slapping the vilest little 6 year old I've ever met. Ever interact with a parent and child and think, constantly, "yer doing this wrong!"? Adult male is trying to be friends with this 6 yo tyrant, who continuously slaps and bites him. He slags her mother, with whom he still lives, every second sentence. She's sullen, still sucking on a soother. We went to a favorite dairy to get her a bowl of her favourite ice cream, and she sulked, because there was no room at a blue table and we had to sit on the grass. Her dad fed her the ice cream like a baby, begging her to accept a little spoon at a time, but we had to go THERE to get THIS SPECIFIC ICE CREAM for HER. He gives in to her every demand, I had to go into Tim's and stand in line with borrowed change to get her 10 Timbits on the way home, did I get a please, a thank you? By the end of less than half an hour in her company, it was all I could do to not smack her little behind and tell her that she deserved nothing but timeout alone in her bedroom until the end of the day. Just the most dreadful little thing. And she's got a big sister, 11 or so, who is just the smoothest, toughest, lovely little critter, who just walks away from her parents when they're being idiots, which is most of the time, and I just want to take HER home. Grrrr...armchair parenting....

I'm having a very lazy day as I recover from our family camping time. Haven't really done anything much as there will be another day tomorrow. Camping was interesting. The kids said we shouldn't worry about anything except our clothing. They would arrange the food etc.. Several days of weiners, smokies, and hamburgers had me in the ER overnight with a mix of digestive and heart irregularities! Got sorted out and went back with a supply of food from home!

It was such a joy to have a bunch of family together -not ALL but quite a lot. Oldest daughter and hubby, younger daughter and hubby, two sons and two kids, youngest son, wife and kid. Cool. The weather was co-operative for the most part too. Two campers were parked right beside the lake which was great for the youngsters (ages 4, 5 and 10).. The rest were a up a wee hill in the pine trees, which made it possible to get out of the wind when necessary. There was much walking, bike riding
and driving between the two spots.

Time will tell if the kids will set something up again next year or not.

Tonight we watch two grandsons play baseball, with their eyes on eventually winning the League Championship!

Good morning! Rain and yardwork, knitting and soccer, craft fairs and family, it all fits together, along with many other things, in this wonderous thing called life. As we sojourn, let us pause for a bit and gather round the Coffee Cart, to help each other make sense of it all, to chat and listen, and to share in hot beverages. All is ready, come and get it.

Who's up in the Soo area? This is happening tonight - I wish I could go! Such an impressive human - dancing joyfully across Canada, spreading positivity.

Regarding dancing - I was delighted to spot my 5 year old g grand son spontaneously dancing to some music drifting his way from a car radio. So graceful and varied - such a delight to watch his arms move with great emotion like a ballet dancer and then suddenly change his entire style to moves more typical of a Scottish sword dancer. Obviously this is a little boy who loves to dance! Are the parents going to encourage this activity? Not a chance. Dad is dreaming of a little Go Kart Racer and Mum wants an athlete. So sad. I had hoped the newer generations had progressed from that type of thinking.
