It’s a shame politics got involved -

BC did better than other provinces such as Alberta and Ontario. I appreciated that Horgan took a step back and let Dr Henry be the spokesperson. Unlike in Alberta where Dr Hinshaw was clearly directed by Kenney.

felt they were being left behind, still stuck at home, so that others could get on with living mask and restriction free, and nobody cared

I felt this one.

And they weren’t eligible for Covid pay if on disability

I felt impacted by this. I had no issue with CERB. The fact they could put out $2000 just like that irked me. Those of us who paid into CPP and OAS for all those years should get $2000 as a base rate. People on disability should get that as well.

they were scared at a time when disabled people felt their lives were at risk or being disregarded on several fronts

I was shocked that friends who I had considered kind and all that didn't seem to give two hoots about their vulnerable neighbours and friends.

, she was spinning PR but not all the facts when she could’ve

I only saw that towards the end. I agree, she was probably burned out by then.

True. You couldn’t pay me to do it either. It’s a shame politics got involved - those pressuring for both more and fewer restrictions. I know the disability community was largely upset because many chronically ill people or those with conditions that made them more vulnerable or made life far more complicated if they were to catch Covid, felt they were being left behind, still stuck at home, so that others could get on with living mask and restriction free, and nobody cared. And they weren’t eligible for Covid pay if on disability. I can sympathize with that - they were scared at a time when disabled people felt their lives were at risk or being disregarded on several fronts. Then there were those on the opposite end of it, pressuring politicians about loosening restrictions, calling them oppressive. She really should’ve been more clear and straightforward as new knowledge came in and at times she wasn’t, she was spinning PR but not all the facts when she could’ve. That’s my opinion. I also understand she was probably burnt out.

Does illustrate the danger of getting involved in any form of polity that is typically contrary or alter to anything they don't understand and yet they refuse understanding and sentient matters that are thin to the point of appearing as negative energy ... the electromagnetic effect? Many are sucked in because of having no concern, worry or bother ... something drifts as folly ... fallacy? Points to human frailty ... people will argue that they are feint ... hard to observe?

Yet still much is expected for nothing ... especially from those of office speaking of their hard labours ... all wasted in prodigal fashion? Thus a return that is nothing like promised through a field of lyrics ... unless read in to ... depth is vastly feared ... because: abstractly, it is dark!

Caution is said to be a great resource ... that puts one in a risk eh ... bad position compared to the greatest gambler?

Thus the body of humanity goes and the mystery ... well E goes on ...

I confused one woman minister about the conflicts between "D" "E" and "đ" presented as a differential with a stroke ... if you have such fortune ... apocalyptic dash? Then the sol has its niche ... virtue all un known ... ignore it at great risqué ... like Ad onus ... when stripped down ... rye in the light!

ad continuum and unseen ...

This breaks down a lot of what BC was feeling. That be kind, be calm, and be safe started feeling like empty words.

Article from December ‘22. She was a well known figure across Canada - may have had fewer critics in other provinces who were still riding with her earlier praise and catchy slogan but were too busy keeping up with their own provinces to know or stay caught up on what was going on here. Which I’m not blaming them for, btw. Just explaining what I think happened.

Indeed, yes :3

I’m more afraid of extreme anti-maskers and antivaxxers than I am of Covid. They tend to pretty hotheaded. Not all, but we’ve seen some extreme examples. I’m pissed that they made a real pandemic political, and that muddied the response and messaging.

It certainly got made political (a lot of.moving parts made it political, from Big Pharma, to various govt's, to individuals, to actual people and orgs making money off of pseudoscience, and so forth...I guess what makes it concwrning to different people is not that the group did it but that too many of the group did it?)

t. I don’t hate the people who’ve been duped - it’s really unfortunate, but they have been duped.
The bit that still gets me is since such terms as Anti-Vaxx and Anti-Mask are vague terms and since the negative connotations given to the terms innocent people have been grouped as a part of those groups...

And once tarred that way that stops thought...because they ARE that...

Trauma and hate and disgust are dificult to deal with :(

I remember the time not thar long ago when mentioning the Lab Leak theory would get one declared Outcast, Unclean

(part of this seemed to be intentional manufacture of consent involving US gov't...)

@Mrs.Anteater

you wondered aboot the hospital covid patients being brought to LTCF?

That happened in NYC

Andrew Cuomo I believe

And yes the Endemic is not over. Endemic means it is a part of our lives

Like HIV
Herpes
The flu

The Pandemic is over. That has a specific usage/definition

Those who are still alive today have survived something amazing (not in the good sense here)...

Agreed. What I don't understand is that anger around masks? Why be so angry about something that protects both you and others? Even if
it's a very inadequate scarf or something.

Because the “information” right wing folks were reading was telling them that masks were ineffective at best, and could cause bacterial infections, lack of oxygen, and harm their kids’ health at worst. They were angry to be made to follow a rule they thought was either ridiculous or harmful, that was getting in the way of daily life, damaging small businesses and causing general chaos, isolation and depression. I understand that if they 100% believed their sources to be telling the truth, why they’d feel that way. (Not saying the information they believed was true, just saying I understand why people felt angry.) Thank the propagandists on the far right for that. They also made their way into the holistic health community through an appeal to natural living and Darwinian mentality. I didn’t realize before how much those things are at the core - but of course if you believe things like plants and herbs and personal health hold all the keys to society’s health, and never had confidence in any govt to begin with, then you might more easily and sincerely believe that masks and vaxxing do more harm than good. I think it’s easy to see why they would be mad.

Who are they?
I’m speaking of the left/ right information divide. If large numbers of people subscribed to the idea that masks were harmful, no wonder they were mad about having to wear them. If they believed the masks were useless “virtue signalling”, then, likewise, it was maddening to lose their own agency in making decisions for themselves that they felt were based on facts.

The worst virtue signalling is to "wear" a mask under your chin. To me that signals, I don't give a s**t, and I'd rather you dispensed with it.

Sadly, the vaxx/anti-vaxx stuff was not divided along left/right lines. A lot of New Age, personal growth people who are allegedly traditionally on the left were against vaccines.

I noticed lots of those folks were veering right on other politics and sources along with it. I think it was a calculated move (Bannon?…Putin?) to funnel people further and further to the right and cause division. They became right wing libertarians. Some ended up falling for Qanon…and formed a weird alliance with fundamentalist Christians through Qanon. Then there are the influencers like Joe Rogan (“supplement slinger”, as comedian Marc Maron calls him), and others. I think the New Age/ holistic living folks were used. I think they are more prone to applying Darwinian ideas to social policy, and believing that “good” genes are determinants of strong societies…:cautious: such beliefs can be dangerous.

You would have to ask them?

I saw physical violence and verbal abuse both over wearing masks and not wearing masks

The trauma seemed to be equal-opportunity

Plus there was the confusion? in US first don't wear masks...then wear them...and when some people pointed out the relative inefficiency of single cloth masks, they get grouped as Outcast, Unclean as per my post upthread...then eventually the authorities say cloth masks not good enough, use N95 etc

It doesn't help that all of this is happening in a highly politicized environent it seems to me, where such things like Global Weirdingz Fossil Fuels, fight against Colonialism, and LBGetc rights are all mushed together...oh and a War...and all the innocents that get grouped in the various out-groups that arent a part of those groups...this whole thing has so many moving parts, that it is easy to see a simpler answer, wether it is Woke causing all the probs to Right Wingers to the Heaetbreak of Psoriasia...words that reflect our BS...

Its shaka when the walls fell
