Red must have slept in. I'm sure he's still recovering from Easter busyness. I'll just roll the coffee cart over here. I've added a sequined cloth to decorate the cart today. There's great coffee roasted on the island and a selection of teas beside the urn of hot water. It's very hot so watch yourself. There's a selection of pastries for all to enjoy. I'll sit here by the fireplace finishing a sweater. I can chat and finish so feel free to join me. :coffee:

Well, 'fake summer' is over here - the short sleeves, shorts, sandals have been traded in favour of a flannel shirt & leggings today - back to seasonal temperatures after Mother Nature's shenanigans last week! I'm 'home alone' for a few days ... yay! It's time I treasure. Thanks for that lovely coffee Northwind - I see your new coffee grinder is working spectacularly!

I just got excused from jury duty. Yay. It was a criminal trial that would last minimum of 3 weeks, so when they asked whether I could do it, I had to say no...wrote down that I help out with some of my husband's appointments, and he has Stage 4 cancer. Also,...I knew two of the employees working in the courtroom. I don't know which reason worked. I wouldn't have given any reason if it were estimated to last a week. But 3plus weeks would be very hard on my husband.

I got rid of the winter coat picture...couldn't stand it any more. Meet my Grandma and Grandpa Wright, originally from Westmeath Ontario, and long since gone. Actually, I never met my Grandma as she died when Dad was only about 12 years old. Grandpa's ancestors were the founders of Hull Quebec (Gatineau), but originally it was called Wrightville. I descend from the brother who got kicked in the head by a horse. He didn't live in Canada long, but I figure his wife must have been sturdy stuff to keep her family going!

I went to a knitting group this morning. Man the wind was cold and felt like snow. It was snowing at a higher elevation. I'm glad to be home and cozy

Miserable day here. Rain and much cooler and just yuck.

However, big guy and I turned it into a cleaning/organizing day, the laundry is all caught up, kitchen is clean, bedroom is swept and dusted.

Well that's kind of a cool family tree. Not so much the kicked in the head by a horse part, though. I can think of more pleasant ways to go.
Yes...a historian wrote up our family tree years ago and we have the very thick book which is now outdated. But the cool thing is that once I was at my mother-in-law's house in Renfrew. A friend knocked on the door; I answered it and we got talking. When I told her that my family was originally from the Ottawa Valley and I told her the story of Thomas Wright, kicked in the head....she said: That is my ancestor too! Small, small world.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday! Change in the weather the past few days here, from near midsummer to snow on the ground here (maybe less than a cm, but snow visible on the ground nonetheless). From discoveries from family trees, to being excused from jury duty (worth a raised coffee mug salute in itself) we gather round the Coffee Cart for support in our sorrows, sharing in our laughter, conversation and community. All is ready, come on in.

Since I forgot to get milk last night, I have the choice of drinking my coffee black or coming here for the perfect cup. Why is the first sip the best?

Good morning. We had thunderstorms and heavy rain last night. Apparently there was hail in parts of town. It looked like it was snowing on the higher elevations. Sleep was a good reset for me. We'll see what today brings.

We've had a real mix of precipitation in the past 24 hours or so. Rain, snow, sleet. Chance of more today but only 30%. Bit headachy. Not sure if it is weather or a rather restless sleep last night.

I am hoping we don't get the predicted weather tonight and tomorrow. I have waited painfully for what feels like an eternity for a CT scan. Tomorrow is the day. Snow and icy roads are predicted. The scanner is an hour away.

Thanks for the suggestion. The added expense is a major deterrent to going today and sleeping there overnight. Just hoping the storm isn't too bad for my guy to battle through. We still have the winter tyres on the car.

This is disgusting, but I'm sharing it with you anyway: We saw three rats in our backyard. My husband has spent the evening trying to outwit them. I'll let you know what happens....
