Which, to be fair is where prayerful discernment comes in.

Gord, I didn't say anything about marriage for love ❤, and when I said I'd invite him to an exploration of the Bible together, that's what I meant. I in no way said that I would be steering the exploration towards a specific end.

I suppose what I am asking is, are you prepared for the possibility that your child might have ideas different from yours, and that these ideas might actually be mature, well-reasoned ideas? I know I have had to get that through my head with my 18 year old son.

Since I'm in a transdenominational seminary, I'm quite used to dialoguing with individuals who have different ideas than my own, and who present such views in mature ways. Do you suspect that I would want less from my son? Now, of course having said that, he is a child so his ideas and reasoning are not to be expected to be as mature as my seminary colleagues.

Jokes like that make this Taurus see red.

Apart from that I think it would be in poor taste for me to talk about gorings (be they good or bad) in a consentual marriage between a man (me, for the sake of argument) and my wife.

If you want to know about that sort of thing ask a 10 year old to explain it to you.
 
When I was in grade 3 we watched a video in class about breast feeding. At least I think that was what it was about because the only part that I remember was when a woman was exposing one of her breasts. The kids in my class started laughing after this so the film was cut short. I guess the teacher thought the class was to immature to continue with the video. I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to see the rest of the video. This was in a Catholic school.

Is there anything kids don't know these days? Some 10 year olds can tell some pretty crude jokes these days. I wonder where they get it from.
 
I noticed some very young childdren (one aged 6, I would guess) in the protest. I wonder how the messages they hear and see on the signs will effect their innocence. Are their parents prepared to answer their questions?
 
Not meant to derail but to ask Jae a question - how many children do you have?
In the early days of the WonderCafe I seem to remember you posting about two boys - one a young adult living in Korea; the other a teen age boy (if I remember correctly at one point you were concerned about him seeming withdrawn). That boy must be an adult now. But recently you are mentioning a son in Grade 10, which would put him about 16.
Just curious - I may have missed something over the years of WC and now WC2.

That's a fair question Seeler. My Yobo had two sons from her first marriage . The oldest is about 29 now, and lives in South Korea. The youngest is 23 now and lives with us here in Toronto. Technically they are my stepsons.

The boy who is in grade 10 is the half-brother of my stepsons. We are his legal guardians while he is here in Canada for high school. We consider him also has our son while he is here (he and his Korean parents are pleased with this arrangement).
 
So now we have our premier commenting that because she read _some_ homophobic comments on social media that therefore she knows that _all_ of the protesters were homophobic. *rolls eyes*
 
I am somewhat curious as to where this will get covered.

I no longer have kids this age, but they both graduated in the last decade.

In high school there are not too many mandatory classes

English is one you must take every year to graduate.
You need three math classes
The rest are a hodgepodge of your choices

So practically, wondering how you get high school kids.

Even home room, which theoretically everyone has is ten minutes of getting announcements and hand outs.

And actually my daughter had a first period spare so no home room. She signed in daily at the office and picked up handouts there.

In grade 9 kids take gym but it is only mandatory for one year

Even in elementary school, kids move room to room, teachers move. Would this be covered under gym? Another period in the day where they sit rather than run

In fairness to the Premiere she was looking at a protest organized by the Coalition For Campaign life which has demonstrated a proclivity towards homophobia in the false and misleading statements they have made about the curriculum. That was illustrated quite clearly by Pastor Kevin's blog which you shared with us.

She may be painting with a wide brush and that is unfortunate if understandable.

If I was looking at a crowd peppered with homophobic signs and making homophobic comments I'd describe the crowd as homophobic as well.

I'm sure everyone in the crowd likes to think of themselves of concerned parents (not so concerned that they would actually read the curriculum to see if the CLC's assessments were true or acurate or neither.
 
@Pr. Jae, You have me wondering. Do you have to pay for a private academy? You are always lamenting that

you are poor, how, then do you pay for a private school? Is this new curriculum in all school

systems?
