Full on snow now. Can't complain, Halloween and Oct in general were fairly warm.
I bought boots with flippable spikes will likely be able to test those out soon. Fingers crossed the flipping is easy enough to do.
I have read about boots like that @ChemGal - will be curious to read your review!

I have heard of those boots but have no idea where I could try some for fit and ease of use. I'm curious about the process of activating and shutting down the spikes. I have visions of teetering on one leg to do that!

I got mine from Marks. I am normally a try on person too especially for footwear. I have had boots from there before though so decided to give online a shot and could return them if they didn't fit right.

I will let you know how the flipping spikes goes. I doubt I would do so for a parking lot, probably walks only.

Good morning! How is everyone? We speak of public transit tickets, special boots with ice grippers, snow and darts. Seems like a good mix of topics. What should we add to the mix today? Time will tell... Anyway I remember years ago there was a company that, if you sent in a photo of someone, would create a dartboard of that photo.(Great holiday gifts!, the ad claimed...) But I digress. The coffee cart is ready, come on in and help yourself.

Amusing how private monies accumulate from public sources that monstrous corporations corner for the slaughter by chimera that the corporate head denies existence ... thus the human resource eats itself up ... all this in the rush to know not as it is easy to be a leader in the field of naivete. There are other words for this that differentiate between one sense of absence and the opposing form ... like stunned by passions? Is that ignorant or just an abstract? Smells of incomplete or incarnate form ... kind 've hollow in thein own itch ...

Germany has decided for a public transit ticket costing 49 Euros monthly. It can be used in all public transit of all cities, country side, and on trains going between places, except for the special fast trains between major cities.
49 Euros is roughly $60.
That sounds cool, esp. if one commutes between cities a lot. One pass for both the intercity and local transit would be quite convenient. The GTA has kind moved in that direction with the Metrolinx system but that's just one major.urban area, not a whole province or country.

Good morning! How's things?

Most things are in vast disarray if you listen to the economic story of how a great expanding economy as a goal has been made the target of the opposing form! These ignorant imbalances grate on me as it I was grilled like scientist-observers in the 1500-1600's ... a really great process that would have best been avoided ... best refined by polishing with due care ... whetting? Sharpen up folks we have done ourselves in and over ...

Bright, sunny and once again, quite warm here. It's 10 degrees already with a forecast high of 20. It was very foggy this morning again. I'm suspecting the lake is largely at fault for these early pea-soupers. Jim hasn't lost the dog yet, though, so we're all good

Re the boot spikes - last year I got a good set of external boot spikes & just leave them kinda permanently on one pair of winter boots that I usually use for daily walks. I previously had a set that was cheaper - and useless - so these are MUCH better. But I do need to be mindful of where I will be walking - no popping in to a store to pick something up while on my walk - the spikes are VERY slippery if without snow or ice under them.

GRE has that too, I think. I know the busses in/out of the city are anyway.

I have a pair I put on runners. Really difficult to get on and off, maybe I should have sized up? My boots tend to be bigger on the outside so figured no point in trying them. I found them awkward to walk in if there wasn't a decent layer of snow and ice on sidewalks.

Don't know about parking lots in your area, but after an ice storm or thaw and re-freeze, I would definitely be deploying them in some parking lots around here. Some people seem averse to ice-melter or salt.

True, depends on the ease for flipping them I guess.

Guess it's not just the surrounding areas. Oddly though I haven't heard much about it from people I know in the city. Back in Jan I decided to shut myself in for a while because a)not boosted b) based on what people in the neighbourhood were saying it seemed like everyone had COVID (and it was positive rapid tests) over about a month.

Maybe it hasn't hit this neighbourhood full force though.

*sigh* I find this is hard to navigate. Number of hockey games for work prior to covid? 0
Last month it was the 1st time ever Chemguy had been out of the country.

Spoke to him on the phone, compromised a bit on risks (ie. He won't be having dinner with the others). Masking the entire time. I just wish as things opened up though these risks were kept to personal choice without additional pressure like work relationships.
