His name is familiar. I am not sure about his 6 sources of disaster. We have climate change, critical damage to food production by the oceans, increasing pace of new diseases, mostly viral, increasing social unrest driven by several different agencies with decreasing trust in governments, tech changes combining with economic changes driving economic instability, increasing wars and movements of people, increasing energy costs, and decreasing food production due to wars, floods, and droughts.

The sequence of tipping points dangers 8s uncertain and choices available to respond to these issues are also uncertain. Strong communities with shared leadership will be important as life rafts in what is coming.

Political action now can, if successful, slow down and reduce the costs or damage of what may be coming. My preference is to work on politics as well as encourage relationship building.

It was from Michael Dowd that I got the definition of problem vs. predicament that I like.

A problem is a single issue, with a number of potential solutions.

A predicament is a web of problems, the solutions to some of which will/may exacerbate others.

Is a victorious secret something overcoming when revealed?

Sometimes it has been said these things are better unknown and thus kept undercover!

Much develops in the great unknown ... demonstrating what we know for sure ...

Well, I just participated in a Zoom webinar, with Dr. Michael Dowd, who was in "6 unpalatable unpleasant truths" mode about the environment/future of society. He states, categorically, as a fact, that we are in the closing years of a collapsed civilization. The End Of The World As We Know It. Pretty sobering, and I'm afraid, pretty accurate.
Hey
Thanks for introing me to this dood

I went to an interview with him and man I like his elan :3 (and him telling the interviewer that humanity will completely naturally die someday wether by asteroid or volcano etc) and I managed to find that TED talk that made him cry. Wow. Sobering. More the reason to #MutualAid #BeNotAfraid

A fellow Canadian seems to share his sentiments. Peter Watts. Marine biologist. Cat lover. SF writer. Disliker of USA (long story but he ran afoul of border guard and got asskicked, was found innocent, but still got a charge where he couldn't travel to USA).
Here is him talking aboot Hopium

So even in this time of global chaos...Sri Lanka gone, farmers fighting to feed their families new plagues, civil wars, Noam Chompsky saying that USA culture more totalitarian in many ways than Soviet Union (which explains a lot--USA has biggest and loudest global mediacultural influence) a thing he has never seen b4, food riots, dogs and cats living together, more the reason to

Here is the talk that changed the good Dr. and made him weep
(Also helps put into perspective all the different talks on the spectrum from trying to stop CCC to trying to help people survive to not stopping CCC and the reactions to and among them...including govts...)

Take a look at the vid I posted above

He doesnt seem to think "its all pointless" lol

He thinks that CCC is not the problem but an aspect of a bigger problem called Overshoot. And that this has been going on for centuries in human-centric civs

So he thinks we should distinguish between what we can change (which includes it seems getting into right relations with each other) and what we can't

Hope you enjoy the vid

And I am truly blessed to have spent a portion of my life with you all

I have not finished watching the video. Got back from a holiday yesterday and need by to get at yard work before the rain starts. Great video and confirms my call to work on relationships and community building. Knowing that billions of people will probably die in the next 20 years is painful.

Exercising the power of silence in the face of great Bulls and Canons for questionable reason ... thus uncertainty regardless of how the folk in black robes try and reassure! There is always sacred intent ... hidden eh?

If you know it is hard to process ... if you process it is hard to know ... we are told to have only one way in specialties ... the polymaths bother administrators ...

In the spirit of random things ... tonight I stumbled across World Chase Tag on TV. Yup - childhood game gone professional - the pro athletes make $1K - $5K/month apparently! "World Chase Tag is an international championship for competitive parkour involving the game of tag." Who knew?

Given that eSports "athletes" (professional videogamers) are making pro sports level coin in some cases, attract huge followings online and even get TV coverage in some countries, nothing really surprises me anymore.
