I wonder about employees right to wear masks- can an employer make the employee not wear one?
If I was a teacher, I would keep wearing one for sure. What about servers- would an employer make employee take them off, the same way employers make staff wear a certain outfit?
Here there's a right to refuse anything that is reasonably unsafe.

Yes, but with no more mask mandate, can one still insist on wearing a mask while working with the public, if your employer doesn’t want you to? Like someone who works at the front desk in a hotel “ we are happy you now can smile at the guests”.

Yes, if someone feels it is unsafe not to then they can either wear the mask or else refuse to work at the front desk and only do things away from others. What do you think the employer would likely pick?

I think that workplace relations are a lot more complicated than that, especially in non-unionized and badly paid positions.

I agree, but from a legal standpoint, that protection is there. I have seen people decide something is unsafe and refuse to do something too.

Ugh, the latest number from Calgary about matches the 4th wave in amplitude. It's noisy, so could be nothing, need a few more data points to really know if it's a trend or not.

It is all about loss of any sense of equanimity in the troops ... winning a all cost is the gaol!

Expect that many will get it backwards ...

Really curious to see what happens Monday in Ontario. We will only be required to mask in health-care settings and on public transit.

It seems that some places will be imposing their own rules. Churches and the Toronto Zoo for example.

What's happening when Covid Restrictions end:

The UK

China

Europe

New Zealand

And on and on........

BC lifted the mask mandate last week. The only places where masks are required are health facilities. They left mandating to employers or companies. BC Transit immediately said masks were not required.

It feels like the province is bowing to political pressure for the first time in two years. It seems early to lift the mask mandates.

I was at the grocery store yesterday. It was good to see many wearing masks. I asked the cashier about masks and he said it seems that about half the customers are wearing masks. He was wearing a mask voluntarily. Most or all cashiers were wearing masks. Maybe half the other store staff were wearing them.

I'm very thankful I'm not reliant on transit right now.

I'm happy to be able to be mask-free in spaces where I feel comfortable.

And some may ask did the higher ups learn anything to pass down to the little people?

Given certain leanings ... probably not. Sorry for the lack of optimism but I see little to make an entire paradigm happy ... because always a portion that trashes psyche ... that dark deep abstract ... some say that an abstract is an incomplete item that should attract attention as ... well out there and all about us!

As parables go could there be another side to this disaster if we could settle on a learning point? Innocence (naivete) is preferred it seems ... perhaps verging on ignorance, etc.

Depends on the employer. Some might relegate you to a dead-end back office job in hopes you'll quietly go away.
I agree, but from a legal standpoint, that protection is there.
But many businesses are fairly adept at getting around those kinds of protections. Frankly, they can always let you go with two weeks notice or two weeks pay and just say you "weren't a fit". Or they can just leave the mask off the table and find other issues to dismiss you with cause. This will likely be generating revenue for employment lawyers for years to come.

Imagine all the loops and holes about working protocol and labor loss ... just to support not knowing ... thus we don't!

Wasn't that a great easing ...

Yeah, I don't think putting in protection specifically regarding masks is a solution to that though.
