Maybe the sock drawer later today?

Women's "one size fits all" socks don't always fit me. Unfortunately Santa Claus often forgets this sad fact.

Funny thing about decluttering. You think you are done and then you keep finding more. It's almost like some stuff you don't even really see.

Today I discarded socks.

A chess set and book because I have had these things for about ten years and never really used them.

Two baskets that had flowers in them once. They have never been used for anything. We are talking decades here.

A copper kettle that was my grandmother's. It doesn't work anywhere in my house because I DON'T LIKE.IT.

Plus some Christmas decor that I am not using.

Oh, baskets and boxes- I love them. Have boxes with boxes that could become containers for something useful. I sew lining for baskets. Just don’t know what to put into them….

Oh, dear, socks. When do you decide that those unmatched socks at the bottom of the "odd sock basket" (doesn't everyone have one?) will never be matched? (In all fairness, one of the "odds", going on 3 years now, is a beautiful navy cotton short sock with a cable, that my sister knit me. How could I lose one of those?)

I wouldn't normally, but if I never find the match to this particular precious sock (unlikely, unless it has wormed its way deep into an unexamined part of the closet), I might use the cotton cable sock as a duster; probably particularly suited for the job.

Was the sock ever in the dryer? It might have worked its way into a sleeve or the corner of a fitted sheet.

If the remaining sock gets demoted to duster, would it make the job of dusting a little more appealing?

Male privilege is connected to male insecurity. Many people need stuff around to feel secure. It is a way of claiming space or power over space. In our bedroom I have 2 drawers and half the closet for my clothes. My other has two drawers, a wardrobe, and half the closet. Upstairs we have a storage room that runs the length of the house under the slope of the roof and I have all my other clothes in two locations. Tropical holiday clothes are with the suitcases. My other seasonal clothes are in a couple of suitcases in s less used part of the storage room and one drawer in the chest of drawers in the spare bedroom.

Another thing converted to stardust ... these may reappear in minds that parallel open dark space ... then there is closed dak space ... one absolute the other abstract (it is all in you mind).

What if the mind is denied ... is it closed off and totally autonomous and disassembled/disassociated?

Could this refer to lost mines ... like Solomon's ... can only exist in mythical manner ... or out there ... thought of Eire!

After discarding a few more things yesterday, I think this decluttering project might finally be done. I do need to put my mind to cleaning as I mentioned earlier. Today I played around with some decor items and ended up almost exactly where I started. Good sign that I am done for now, right?

Update two days later. I have another box ready for donation!

I am beginning to see the wisdom in the advice to take EVERYTHING out and examine it closely. I would actually recommend this approach to anyone just starting the process.

I went through my cupboard today taking out all the cups and mugs and travel mugs. Sorted out three cups that were nicked and found five lids that had no more cups to go with. Two cups that were gifts but I never really cared much for went into the yard sale box. I am super slow in the process.

I have been reading i,ea hacks on Pinterests. Love Ikea. Got a good one for making a charging station using some parts I already have.

Have just spent a very pleasant morning starting a new thread here on WC2 and tweaking my photograph albums. I did a big organization project with photos a year ago. Today I decided I am basically happy with the way I organized everything but I made a few minor changes.

Was able to use materials on hand which is always satisfying.

I tackled another kitchen cabinet with dishes. I had glued on shelf liners with double sided tape , which now has morphed into something very disgusting sticky. So I removed that and sewed myself some shelf liners from heavier fabric which I had left over from outdoors furniture upholstery.
That sounds wonderful. Keep up the good work ☺️

I hope everyone is watching me doing nothing at all faced with this goodness...
I threw out some empty boxes today. Consumable stuff.
2 years of no cleaning service, no houseguests hasn't done the clutter any favours here.
Add in the laundry issues because of contact dermatitis and bunch of products and I have a good number of things I need to go through.
Chemguy did throw out some of my hair accessories. Many of my favourite, not super cheap ones. I think any hope of washing out any product was pretty hopeless. Silly to not throw them out, but I wasn't quite at the point of being ready to do it myself. Sometimes it helps to have the other person do the actual tossing.

Start small is the best advice anyone could give you. I hear you about the dumpster, but if I were you, I would be procrastinating. I know this to be true.
