Novel Coronavirus

Oh and to add - it's an IV drug they come and infuse it in people's homes (only available in certain parts of the province though). So it's a good way to manage active COVID cases with limiting contacts.

I wonder if we will ever get decent estimates of cases this wave. The waste water data seems to be low compared to what we know, but Omicron seems to behave differently so it could just be a lower amount of virus that enters wastewater per infected person. Hopefully they can somehow adjust for that with more data.

With rapid tests being used for the majority I think it would be good if they could set up a self reporting portal. A bit of potential for abuse, but no more than things like vaccine bookings, online pcr bookings, etc.

Covid has now arrived in the English branch of my family. I'm surprised it took this long as many of them are unvaxxed and not bothering with precautions. So far none of them have been admitted to hospital, so maybe they won't have lingering difficulties. Two of them are children, and that bothers me.

I see Quebec is back to concentrating the number of people in any given place during the day again. Curfeqs plus closures in Sundays. How do they think that's helpful?
I wish they would give incentives to grocery stores to be open 24 hors right now. Heck I wish that was an option for phototherapy too. I would gladly go at night to reduce contacts if given the option.

Throw in the lack of immunocompromised by ON (one of the most common causes is aging, how many are going to count that). Other provinces are going to be doing the same too. I doubt AB is far behind on this switch.

Based on that, Ontario may have go it right on one count. They only reduced self-isolation for vaccinated persons. Unvaccinated still have to do 10 days.

Here's CBC's piece outlining the new Ontario rules.

Again, no criteria for who is immunocompromised.
I also think improvement of symptoms is a bit concerning too. Some symptoms may linger gor a while but I think it would be good to have a clear list of you must not still have these covid symptoms to leave isolation.

Again, no criteria for who is immunocompromised

The language in this article mentions people who are at higher risk of serious illness.

BC has similar guidelines. If I got sick I would call my doctor or 811 to find out if I should get tested. I would not rely on the presence or absence of a list of criteria.

Criteria ... do these things form the basis of critical intelligence that powers would rather obscure at their own peril ... with a sequenced crisis?

Few understand such deeps ... nor those coming from there ...

Let us skim over the pool?

Thankfully some do that. I think this pandemic has shown that everyone can't be trusted to do things to limit spread.

Alberta dropped to 5 days today too if fully vaccinated. No immunocompromised difference. Masking is required for 5 days to be around others. Symptoms have to resolve, not just improve.

The emergency room doctor who speaks regularly on a local radio station said that his colleagues benefit from the curfew in that the workload is definitely reduced, giving some relief to the overburdened hospital staff. There is a noticeable reduction of cases from any cause because there are fewer car accidents, gang fights, shootings and other nightlife happenings. Anything that protects the healthcare workers helps fight the virus be it incidental or direct and here in Quebec the healthcare professions and the remaining workers need every bit of help they can get.

That may be so. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what else can be done
I think rapid test would be ideal for shortening the time frame. Also a list for what's included for immunocompromised. I think the masking rule makes sense too ie. No dining in a restaurant, eating in a breakroom.

Sounds like it's moreso type of activity at night? Midnight grocery trip seems to be unlikely to be a problem.
