It's not noon that's the problem. It's the time that the sun rises and sets coincident with work starting and ending times.
Right, that doesn't need to be dependent on the number though. So if we all use the same time people on the East Cost would start work in the AM and people in the West in the PM when the sun comes up. Like I said standard business hours would shift provincially, and possibly regionally too. So kids who are south might start school at 3pm but kids further north might start at 4pm due to the later sunrise through most of the school year.

How is that an improvement on 24 set time zones, no shifting?
Let's say I have a call planned at 10am with someone. It doesn't matter where we are, it's at 10am. Also yes, no changing the clocks. I think it could be a good influence on other things too, for example federal elections, run them for 24 hours, we all start and end at once. Individual polling stations could adjust the number of workers as needed. Would help with accessibility as a student I wasn't guaranteed time to vote like most workers are.

That would not be practical, because instead of counting back the hours to find out if you would be out of bed when I call you, I now have to guess if you are still sleeping.

Good morning! Happy Sunday! Let us rejoice, because for most of us DST has ended. The coffee cart is up and running. Help yourself.

Time shifting is stated to be stressful in some psychological studies that put people into depressions ... thus many would just go back to bed!

Thus the Good Night Myth ... and then we drop off the edge of virtue Os itties ...

Or you ask someone what time they usually go to bed since that varies a lot anyway.

In the end, it doesn't change much either way. Whether I have to remind my business contacts in California that I am in Eastern Time or have to remind them that I start work at 8 while they don't start until 10 or whatever, there's still going to be differences in life and work schedules to work around. So I don't really care too much for the idea of the whole country being a single time zone. People are used to the current system. Getting rid of DST, OTOH, and running the whole continent on standard time year round would fix a slew of issues. And create a few, too. For instance, Indiana straddles Eastern and Central so only part of the start goes on DST, thus causing the entire state to be on the same clock for part of the year. And there's some time zone weirdness in the Southwest that I vaguely recall from my time vising Utah and Arizona. I think it is something like Arizona doesn't switch but the Navajo First Nation who have land in the North of the state (and own tourist sites like Monument Valley and Antelope Canyon) do.

Right now, I think we are stuck with DST in Ontario because it does not make business sense for us to change if Quebec and New York, two of our biggest trading partners, do not. And that's exactly what the law here is. We will change if they do.

Anyhow, this is probably a thread topic unto itself. Back to lounging around the coffee cart with my afternoon cuppa.

Raked, pruned, put yard waste out, and generally cleaned up the yard today. I guess this means we are ready for winter but there's one more yard waste pickup left in 2021 so we can always do more if needed.

Chemguy did a lot while I slept. Reboxed alk the Halloween stuff we left sitting in the garage. Got the Christmas lights up. I'll probably cut his hair tonight. Lungs finally starting to feel normal. Allergic reactions can be so exhausting, takes a while to recover.

I made waffles today using my son’s chicken’s eggs. Noticed that they were harder to separate, shell was harder and they were so fresh, the egg white really stuck together. Dropped them off for them to eat and put the rest in the freezer. Said hi to the grand goats. Then stopped at a craft sale for the Autism support group. First time using my vaccine passport. I was worried anout it being too crowded, but it was an hour before closing, so not that busy. Picked up some Christmas gifts.

Greetings! As this day begins, let is salute the day with hot beverages. The coffee cart is ready to meet your virtual hot drink needs. Let us also give thanks for spouses who get things done, for waffles, and for at least a temporary reprieve from the annual foolishness that is DST.

Been thinking about how it gets light in the summer by 5:15 a.m.

This is after springing forward. If we do away with DST, would it not be light by 4:15 in the morning? Is this what we want?

Or is the plan to stick with DST year round?

Too fey or coffee? Like hemi and demi ... there's moor ... land to be divided to no end ... and thus it was all used up!

Conclusion to expanding complexity without the simple? Thus termination of temporal matters .. and we retreat into timeless thought ... that out of here item!

I watched a German documentary by a South Korean woman who visited North Korea ( which she only was able to because of her German citizenship). Very interesting. Of course, she was only allowed to see what they wanted her to see. She visited a clothing factory. The female workers were sewing clothing for export, it was foing over China to Canada because of the trade boycott they could not export directly and had Made in China labels in the clothing. The workers were aid with food according to their needs plus a wage which was topped up a bit depending on points they would get for quota as well as for social behaviour ( helping others, helping with cleaning). They started at 7.30 with thirty minutes of education and then worked till noon, had a two hour lunch break and then worked until 7 pm. They had exercise breaks when music started and they did all the same dance moves for a few minutes. It was very interesting. They had to join the military at 16 or 17 for ten years. After which the military told them what career they would be good for.

Beautiful day today. Unfortunately, I had to work until 1:30 but I did spend an hour or so raking leaves and further disassembling the patio furniture to put away. It's dark now, but it's still 15 degrees here.

This time change is hard on the critters. I'm in the middle of "where is my supper" noises, even though it's only early supper time (there's a range...).

The sky here was actually blue all day. I haven't seen a cloudless sky like that for some time, before today

Yeah, it was gorgeous. Watched the sun set over Lake Huron (I was in the Pinery today) tonight and it was lovely. Just a couple very light, high clouds near the sun and they actually enhanced the scene.

Good morning! As we give thanks for skies and weather, as we find a little view into a country few of us know very much of at all, let us salute the new day with got beverages. The cart s ready, come and get it.
