Kamloops and the residential schools in general

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

But, symbolically, this is "property damage" (as I said, careful avoidance, apparently, of any collateral damage to humans). This in light, of a church that couldn't "fundraise" the $25 million it promised to residential school survivors, but could 'find' $28 M for a cathedral in SK. The optics are really s**tty. And not everyone feels compelled to follow "fairness" rules that are so often slanted in the other direction.
But we aren't talking 28M cathedrals. These are mostly rural community churches. The arsonists are hurting the communities where those churches are located, not the Vatican or the church hierarchy.

I agree with what you say, but do you feel the anger? I do. Do you think the anger is illegitimate? This is what I'm struggling with.

I do. I would expect those burning them feel the attendees are fools . I also don't presume the arsonists are indigenous

Do you ever think that the parents of those stolen children, especially the ones who would never come back, wouldn't have wanted to kill someone to get their kids back? Like a Mama Bear whose cubs were stolen?

Regardless, I get it. This isn't about the churches though. It is about the people and the generations who are finding their story confirmed.

Imagine a mutually destructive tendency in population demographics ... given the belief systems which are incredible (un ethic)!

There are ethereal consequences ... when spatial abilities depart ... and we have no further place to put knowledge!

Ether is said to be quintessential to the 5 senses ... a place to go for rest ... mysterious domains? Imagine resting the 5 senses as a gift ... Donatus?

Counter is the donated loss ... where so much was wasted as thought, knowledge, etc. was denied in the face of powerful singular desires ... autonomous existence? Then, there are no words to define it ....

People in reality are like that ... no abstract abilities ...

Me neither. Could be white "anarchists" (in quotes because they are generally just trolls, not true philosophical anarchists) or even neo-Nazis stirring up s**t. Especially the later copycat crimes (and, yes, these are crimes no matter who is doing it and what is their motivation).

There's been a run of painting statues red. Much more productive form of protest, I think.

More confused folk given the support of chaos in disrupting mutuality? It is observed as broadly spread ... that force that is out and about ...

May create dimples in space, or wrinkles in time! Disassociated thinking and mentality ...

I remember somewhat an article in Broadview about a church ( not sure which denomination) on a reserve. History background of course the missionaries wanted to christen the “ heathen”. Property was on reserve, but band had no right to determine what was to be done with the church which was still maintained by some left over committee. Band wanted to use it for their purpose and committee wanted to keep it as a last sign of Christianity on reserve. I don’t think it was still used by a congregation. At least, that’s how I seem to remember the story.
And that’s what seemed to be so pervert- they were on a reserve. Not their own land. And the church could not be touched. That story was the first thing I thought of when I heard of churches burning. Having to tolerate a symbol of colonialism on your own land....tempting situation.

A big problem, as I see it, with the RCC, is not 'JUST" the residential schools. This is the institution who ran the Magdalene Laundries for wayward women in Ireland, particularly, who have run particularly cruel "maternity" homes worldwide. This is the institution that has fostered the rapes of women and children by their priests, with the only penalty being relocation, for millennia. They are, in my eyes, the ugliest of the ugly.

And I will moderate my own response by observing that I come from a family that is half RCC. My beloved English relatives are largely RCC on the maternal side.

The church was McDougall United Church on. The Morley reserve west of Calgary. The land the church Sat on ( it burned down a couple of years ago) was actually separated from the reserve land many years ago and administered by the McDougall UC Memorial Society on behalf of the UCC..
