Anti-science ideas are absolutely a factor right now, outside of Edmonton at least.
It's not really a factor yet in numbers vaccinated for the province. What we have is being used too quickly. There is certainly uneven distribution/vaccinated numbers within the province because of it.

There is in most jurisdictions. Ontario has targeted specific health units as "hot spots", and has done pop-clinics, etc., which means that the hardest-hit areas are getting larger percentages of their population vaccinated than others.

I would disagree with that one. THe only reason Alberta is approaching 70% for first shots is because of the two large metropolitan areas. Up where I am we have barely broken 50%.. ANd that is not because of lack of supply or available appointments.

Well, the ones that make the target list. We had a postal code zone here that was just as bad as any of the "hot spots" back in April and early May and it didn't get targeted.

We're consistently using what we get though, our gap is typically one of the smallest. SK was doing the best for quite some time but hasn't been leading as often anymore. If the gap percent was calculated every day and summed I'm confident Alberta would be in the lowest 3 ie. we don't have much sitting around unused.

The Pfizer vaccine has been available here since early January. None of my friends have taken the 2 injections! 2 of my friends tested positive for the virus AFTER taking the vaccine! One of them may have gotten the virus shortly before the vaccine took effect, but the other got it well after taking the vaccine. That's one reason why my friends won't take the vaccine. The other is the report that the day I got my second shot (April 13) someone immediately died in their car after receiving it, took their foot of their breaks, and hit an emergency care worker. I got multiple reports of this that same day, but have seen no printed news report about this. My friends attribute this to a cover-up. I think I'll ask the editor of our local newspaper why she didn't publish this report. Friends also report that their family doctors won't take the vaccinations! But my doctor-brother stays on top of the medical research and he says the vaccine is urgently needed. We need to get to the bottom of these oral reports because they have a decisive effect on public willingness to get vaccinated.

By reports you mean gossip?

Learn to read. The report that 2 of my friends got the virus AFTER being vaccinated and that some of their doctors won't take the vaccine is FACT, not gossip.--confirmed by eyewitness testimony.

Hint to the wucking clueless. There's a reason why it's a series of two vaccines. Because the second shot completes an "immune response" process that requires a supplementary shot.

It's absolutely normal for the odd person (some people's acquaintance with 'odd' people may be story-exaggerated) to come down with COVID-19 after a first dose. It's also statistically, very possible, to come down with COVID after two vaccines. What is MOST unlikely, is that one will sicken enough to require admission to an ICU, the main plan here...

Some people have proved that their friends are either total wucking idiots, non-existent, or not real friends. Friends do not encourage friends to drink the Koolaid.

I believe they are referring to the 'reports' of the sudden death of a driver and the running down of an emergency care worker, and not that 2 of your friends were infected after vaccination.

On that subject, the fact of vaccination is no guarantee of being infection proof. It does mean that the illness will likely be much less severe than if there had been no vaccination. Just as an annual flu shot doesn't make one bulletproof to the virus, but does greatly lessen the severity of it, if contracted.

The multiple reports is the part I was referencing.

And even then, if case numbers are still high, some people will probably end up sick and even die even with both doses. Immune systems get suppressed for a variety of reasons. With a pretty good vaccine those cases are rare.

So, we have gossip here, and "fake news". Lovely combination of credibility. Maybe not?

Also, my car has brakes, which implies stopping, versus breaks, which imply pausing. I'd have thought that a Harvard grad type might automatically know the difference, but maybe they spelled differently in the 19th century.

Of course! I was merely explaining why none of my friends are getting vaccinated--and my post made it clear that I deplore their decision. And I added my intent to see if the reporting of our local paper (located a couple of blocks from the vaccination site) can confirm the instant death of the newly vaccinated driver, that has convinced so many in my town to decline the vaccine. I am also curious as to why my primary care physician and the doctors of my friends are not getting vaccinated.

And your towns name is...?
I think you can be quite assured that we will not come looking for you if you disclose the name of your town.
And if you doctor is not getting vaccinated, why didn’t you ask him in the first place?
You are still looking like someone interested in spreading rumours rather than facts.

There are multiple reasons to not get vaccinated. One of our nurses is allergic to ingredients in all of the vaccines except for J&J. Unfortunately, J&J is not (yet) available to her.
