We had a beautyful sunny day and up to 16 degrees today, but with a strong wind. Got my winter tires changed and helped junior to pound in stakes for a new goat run. Hoping the wind will die down tomorrow so we can go on our first paddle trip.

Do you ladies always knit with wool? I understand there's not much point to blocking acrylic yarns.
I prefer wool or wool blends - sometimes a bit of alpaca, or silk, or possibly something synthetic mixed with some. I usually use acrylic tho for prayer shawls for the church, and sometimes for kid stuff - less concern with laundering. Sometimes I will very gently steam block an acrylic/synthetic - but have to do it very carefully! It feels very different on the hands when working too, I've noticed. This is my next project ... https://blog.expressionfiberarts.co...-an-easy-striped-shawl-concatenation-pattern/

Good morning, all! Happy Sunday! For sun and trees of all kind, the beauty of hand knit things, and other topics of more or less import, thr coffee cart is ready. Let us gather in spirit and salute the day will hot beverages of all kinds.

Contacted the niece of my ex husband. His mother is in the hospital, dying. ( also lives in Berlin, Germany). She hasn’t been to a doctor for 15 years, and suddenly went unconscious. They suspect a cancer. I had occasionally visited, remembered that I thought three years ago that she looked like she had cancer , she has been a smoker for a long time. Didn’t think she would not see a doctor, Germany has a pretty good health system.
When the ambulance came , they waited one hour in front of her door, because they couldn't get confirmation from any emergency department that they would take her, because of Covid. Hospitals are full. Now she is admitted and it sounds like it won’t be long.
I am hoping the niece will learn something. She was one of the ones who had posted all of this anti- mask , anti- government restriction nonsense on her facebook so that I had actually blocked her on facebook because of the ongoing stupidity.

I am saddened to hear of this. There are so many people who refuse to see a doctor before it is too late. I hope her life end comes with caring and support.

Good morning! Sunny and bright but a tad cool here at the moment. As we hear of distant loved ones' approach to the end of life, realizing how fragile life and health are, let us gather round the cart to find (and/or offer) support to each other, remembering we are not alone.

May peace be with you all this day. It is a sunny day here in S. ontario, with rain expected Wed, Thurs & Fri.
Time do be out & about today, work tomorrow, then rain will likely keep us inside again. I don't mind gardening in summer rain, but spring rain is just too cold. I would love three days of good consistent rain, so not complaining.

Worried about a friend who is undergoing tests for heart related items after a scare earlier in the week. Conscious of the weight many carry in their hearts, with illness they may not be sharing with others, or fear of doctors, or shucks even dentists!

speaking of which, i went to the dentist last week for cleaning and x-rays and was disappointed with the number of cavities (albeit small ones) that need taken care of. I had been avoiding the dental office with covid, and braved it with my first vaccination over two weeks ago. They have great protocols, but, i was avoiding the risk of covid. The outcome is that now i have to get more fillings done. Ordered a waterpik based on guidance of the hygienist due to age and type2 diabetes and will increase rate of cleaning. Hoping this will keep future cavities at bay. I am of the generation that should die with a full set of teeth due to dental care and cultural expectations of clean teeth.

I saw my dentist a few times in the "lull" last year. A checkup and a couple visits related to an extraction. Put off getting an implant, though, due to second wave starting around the time I was ready for it (you have to wait 4 months after the extraction or something like that).

Nice day here. Too bad it is a work day.

Good morning, all! Welcome to the coffee cart. As we remember friends awaiting test results, visits to dentists (or optometrists, or whosoever) let us gather round and partake of hot beverages, share the support and companionship here. Enjoy.

Good morning. Our neighbours invited us for a walk yesterday afternoon so we discovered a lovely little provincial park near here.

It was nice to get off our butts for a little while.

Today is my CT in preparation for my 3 month doctor visit next week. I had a bone scan on Friday. Other than the scan it will be an uneventful day
