AB is doing AZ down to age 40 as well. Announced by Kenney on Twitter, more info tomorrow and bookings for that new age grouping begins Tuesday.

Ontario announced that last night as well. Still have no sense of what the uptake for it has been, just the odd anecdotal tweet or social media post. Chris Hadfield, the retired astronaut turned musician-author, tweeted that he got AZ, for instance.

I'm curious about decisions regarding 2nd shots. We got Moderna and were told to get a second Moderna shot. However, that vaccine is in short supply now. What will happen? Without a crystal ball I have no clue! Having said that I seriously doubt the people making these decisions have a crystal ball either.

The UK is currently studying mix and matching vaccines.....although I'm not sure if those studies will be done in time to help you. There are some countries that will/have been mixing and matching because they have stopped offering AstraZeneca.

A Norwegian travel agency has found a market in offering vaccination travel for Germans to Russia. They are getting their Sputnik vaccine directly in their Russian hotel. The cost is 150 euros for the vaccine and 1000euros for flight and hotel. Younger Germans who are not yet eligible are doing it, despite Sputnik not being approved in Europe yet. Only a bit over 5% of Russians are vaccinated versus 6.4% of Germans. Russia seems to appreciate the money.

Why 4 weeks? I thought all were being delayed and even if not AZ has data showing to wait for 12 weeks is better than sooner.
Yes - AZ in Ontario was a 4 month return date when my friend got hers about a month ago. Perhaps some in special circumstances have earlier second date?

I disagree with a lot of what's being stated here. I think an open culture about this is beneficial. Work situations are a bit different. How someone got the vaccine is a different question than why someone is in the phase they are in

I think it would be better for the article to have tips on how to do it politely, what situations it's not appropriate and to just be respectful if people don't dish to discuss it.

More confusion, announcement was AZ will be decreased to 40 starting tomorrow here, but the mass clinic in the city was doing walkins down to the age of 40.
There was also an article, sorry, don't have it open now stating which provinces would lower the age and it mentioned Health Canada recently approved it for 18+ - Health Canada did that before we had any shipments arrive, it approved both CoviSHIELD and AstraZeneca separately as 18+. Provinces do not have to follow NACI's guidelines. I do find it interesting all the changes by age and nothing by sex.

BC has lowered the age to 40 for AZ. I think I saw they are also using it for clinics in harder hit areas for people 40+.

Yes, especially since the blood clots were found in women in the under 55 age group.

And the 3-4 week timeframe for AZ doesn't even make sense, as 12 weeks has been shown to be most effective for it. I think it may possibly just trying to use what they have and maybe same issue as here with the hesitancy?
Here in Oz I had the Astrazeneca vaccine two weeks ago. It's the vaccine used for fifty and over - as we have had three clotting problems -all in their forties. The second vaccine is due 12 week after the first. Under 50's will be offered the Pfizer - but delivery isn't expected till October. So, you can obtain the Astrazeneca vaccine - with your doctor's permission if you choose to do so via consent form if you're under 50.

Community transmission is negligible in Oz - most cases are returning from overseas where they are held in strict quarantine with compulsory testing.. (Quarantine in your own household proved ineffective - (just popping out to the shops!) -and that's why quarantine is run by the states.)

All workers in frontline quarantine duties received the Pfizer vaccine as it was considered a slightly better vaccine - particularly with possible mutations.
So far, so good........

Locally at least, the drop to age 40 seems to have made a huge difference, not a lot of vaccine supply nearby now, mostly wait lists by the sounds of it. Hopefully that's true across the province. Seems like the 40-55 crowd wasn't as concerned as the 55-64 crowd was of vaccine side effects.

Not sure why NACI isn't stepping up, COVID blood clot risks are way worse.

I am glad to hear on the radio this morning that Canadian truckers can be vaccinated in the US on their way through. I am sure that will be making a difference over time.
