The first "pants" I was allowed to wear to school was when I was in grade 8, and they were burgundy, corduroy bell bottoms. I don't think "jean" material was allowed, although boys, could, of course, wear "jeans".

And you tried hard not to break your ankles on those platform shoes. I had two rather remarkable pairs. An electric blue strappy thing, separate heel, that I bought in the U.K. And a platform wedge in stripes of light and forest green suede.

My very cool cousin had the coolest platform running shoes. Low cuts. I swear they were 6" platforms

My total best friend in high school was a gay guy, totally enamoured with Elton John. We used to take regular day trips to Toronto just to walk along Yonge St. lusting for the platform boots.

bwahaha

I think those are the knit jeans!
The guy with the chip bag -- you can see his bells

Wow. We're among fashionistas. Memories indeed. Platform shoes and bell bottoms. That was a little while ago.

I have my mother's circa 1978 Janome.

Good morning, all! As we ponder sewing machines, nostalgia for their brands, and some of the, ummmm, interesting 70's fashion choices (thank heavens no one's mentioned leisure suits yet), let us gather round for hot beverages to assist in our conversation.

Greetings. (Nice neutral term when there are mornings and afternoons in this group)

We were going to watch church with @GordW and that has been delayed due to technical difficulties. The joys of pandemic adaptations.

I'm knitting a sock for spring.
