Novel Coronavirus

I realise it was inevitable, however, it is horrifying when it happens. A while back I shared that the area I live in has way too much Covid. Now I hear that the entire Grade Twelve year have been told to get tested following exposures at a resort restaurant. Even allowing for the usual exaggeration at gossip groups this is bad. So far there hasn't been anything reported on reliable sources. One of my grandsons is part of the Grade Twelve year and waiting for results. My daughter is freaking out. I have a medical appointment today for a possible cancer. As my Nana frequently said - it never rains but it pours.
Reports will probably come out if there is an outbreak, hopefully not!
Also hoping for good news from your appointment today!

The lack of proactiveness is very frustrating.
Since easing restrictions, cases have gone up, no big suprise.
The last few days have been rather consistent, in the 400s and today we are up to over 500.
Monday is the soonest we could enter step 3 for easing restrictions. Kenney is still pointing out how we're meeting things like where hospitalizations are at. I feel like this is a repeat of the fall - let's sit and wait until hospitalizations reach a point, then add restrictions back in and then they go higher due to the lagging factor.

It's been shown lesser earlier restrictions work better than later more strict ones, so let's do that!

I felt that way when I learned that people from Quebec were in Whistler for their spring break. :(
I had to shake my head and laugh incredulously. At the end of the article, one of the Germans interviewed on her way to her Spanish vacation said, “I can totally understand how they feel. It’s all a bit irresponsible.” (Paraphrased).... but the subtext is, “But, meh. I’m going anyway.”

Whew. Sanity prevailed this year.

And the local medical officer yesterday suggested we were close enough on vaccination of 80+ that 75-79 could be added next week. That's general population, which is being done by age. There's also various healthcare workers in the current lot as well. Not sure where those are at.

Thank you. My appointment was reassuring. My grandboy is still waiting for results (lots of people to do in a small town).
A different grand has been warned that the plant he works at may be shut down - too many sick with suspected Covid.
My son in law went back to work yesterday following a surgery with an eight week recovery period. Went to the hospital in the afternoon with what turned out to be appendicitis. Sounds like another 6-8 weeks of no meaningful income.
His wife (my daughter) has been asked to get back to work - she is the one who was a staff member on a cruise ship. It sounds like the financial pressures are almost forcing her to get on a plane to 'somewhere' - she doesn't know where.
Local news is featuring my son who lives at the crossroads where the hockey bus was hit. A fair bit of misleading non facts.

All this going on and I can't hug anybody!!

I walked through a small local park today. Quite a number of kids, at least 1/2 dozen adults. No masks, no distancing. I could distance no problem because I was on my own and the grass is dry enough to walk on now.

SK also has a spike in young infections. Our Grade 12 year has quite a few positive kids (my grandson is still waiting for his results). The owner of the hotel/bar was infected and several kids went there. The guy also attended a funeral and got a bunch people infected. He has been flown to the city to be intubated.

We have a case next door but one and at least one more on our block.

When the weather is reasonable our little playground across the road is chock a block with unmasked kids and the occasional adult.

This is not looking good!

Dr. Hinshaw mentioned seeing outdoor transmission recently. It wasn't something simple like just passing by, but concerning and seems to be a new thing due to variants. I had relaxed a bit on being around others outdoors after watching the information, I had been considering going to a playground with my nephews soon if the weather and schedules cooperate. I think that will still be likely but will be more cautious compared to our outdoor Christmas gathering at the end of Jan.

I'm really glad we're not moving onto step 3, that was a possibility today. We meet the criteria for considering it, but by the end of this week I expect things will be worse than what the criteria is.

And what a site we are to those looking in from the mystery ... yet unexplained for few wish to be aware of much! Is much inclusive of the hole thing? In the binomial theorem one was missing ... always something incomplete ... and how many know it?
