@ChemGal -- you have no clue how many people do NOT go to doctor's, avoid them at all costs, and when they do , just go for emergency / symptom management.

Of course it is screened if you are taking care of yourself.
Go figure, sometimes folks with diabetes are people who avoid doctors.
Sometimes folks with other conditions, or who think they are healthy, avoid doctors. My spouse is one of them.

So, yes, if you go to the doctor, and if you get your blood tests done, then odds are it will be caught.
If you don't, it won't, until you are in a controlled space where bloodtests are being done.
Oh absolutely people skip on screening care. It's something that wouldn't be difficult to account for though ie. When was last testing done for those who developed diabetes and if it was recent how many were prediabetic.

Yes, the responsible news I'm hearing (CBC), is that analysis of data is on-going, but that preliminary studies indicated that "clotting events" (which are independent events that happen to humans for a whole bunch of reasons) were in fact slightly under-represented in the total population vaccinated.

Although we are not hearing about these "events" with the other vaccines are we?

Found out that the couple next door (both 80+) got their first shot so good news there. Had some help with booking from a daughter (they have eight kids, seven still living, and I forget how many grands).

No sign of shots on the horizon for us.

A number of provincial bodies are declaring a third wave here. Certainly both the province and my area are up, though a lot of the action in London is related to students gathering for parties and that sort of thing. Our health officer is sounding a bit frustrated (again). Everyone now worriedly watching to see what happens today, since both Western and Fanshawe have a history of major, unsanctioned St. Patrick's Day parties.

I saw something about a concern of the biggest party day of the year and was like huh? Sure some pubs did some good parties but NYE Halloween Bermuda Shorts Day for last day of classes would all be much bigger although likely not BSD for 2020/2021

St. Patrick's Day has been a big party day for the students in London, especially Fanshawe, for a while. 2012 was the worst year, when it turned into an outright riot after the cops showed up. If you go the archive, I think I did a thread on it on the old board. I was actually out of the country at a conference but even in the US, I was hearing about it.

The other bad one is Western's "FoCo" in the Fall (Fake Homecoming because Western moved the actual Homecoming later in the Fall in hopes of deterring the parties).

BC has ordered that liquor sales stop at 8 tonight and not resume until tomorrow morning in an effort to reduce the harm from partying. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

Certainly explains the article I aaw and it wasn't about all of ON like I assumed.

I just heard on the news that SK leads the country in per capita cases of Covid. Also that the area that includes my little community leads the province. Not what I like to hear - and tomorrow I have to travel to an out of area hospital.

We are now supposed to be going into our third wave......but what constitutes a "wave"?
A sudden rise in Covid cases because we've reduced restrictions? If so we will probably have 10 waves because we loosen our restrictions far too early IMO....but we shall see.
I would love to be wrong about this.

This is old news now, but in case anybody else missed it, it might be worth knowing. I find it thought provoking, and quite unsettling. I'm seeing both sides of the coin. Who this drug saves from what lethal process, how - and how this drug is used to kill who, by a similar lethal process.

Nothing new. Of cause you can kill yourself with a good thing- for example with insulin. You even can damage yourself by drinking water excessively.

Yes, but who is it being used to save and who is it being used to kill? It's morbidly interesting and concerning that the horrible processes by which one might die from COVID or from a bad MAiD death are similar. The big difference is that one is obviously distressful and the other might be outwardly hidden by paralysis (so it appears peaceful but is not experienced that way). Seems worthy of more concern, to me.

Most of those drugs have non-lethal medical applications. In fact, pretty much all drugs used in executions are legit anesthetics and such. They are just giving controlled overdoses.

I realise it was inevitable, however, it is horrifying when it happens. A while back I shared that the area I live in has way too much Covid. Now I hear that the entire Grade Twelve year have been told to get tested following exposures at a resort restaurant. Even allowing for the usual exaggeration at gossip groups this is bad. So far there hasn't been anything reported on reliable sources. One of my grandsons is part of the Grade Twelve year and waiting for results. My daughter is freaking out. I have a medical appointment today for a possible cancer. As my Nana frequently said - it never rains but it pours.

Yes but if you read the senate testimony given by the same doctor - a doctor very experienced in the field of anesthesiology and in using oxygenation techniques, the overdoses from these drugs can involve one experiencing drowning in lung fluid while they are still aware and paralyzed. The paralysis makes it appear peaceful.

In Covid the drugs are used in small doses to allow for oxygenation procedures and help the patient to survive an otherwise unpleasant death by asphyxiation. In MAiD, an overdose of the same drugs themselves, can cause asphyxiation akin to waterboarding.
