And ... I'm back into lockdown for min 28 days starting Monday. Hopefully that will get our numbers down enough that son & gf (who are also going to be in lockdown at their place) can come for Christmas. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, I saw that Ford implemented lockdown in Toronto-Peel-York. We aren't exactly stellar here, but I guess our cases per 100K still isn't bad enough to get on that radar. Mrs. M and I pretty much operate as if we were on lockdown anyhow. Just go out for shopping and medical. I am still home officing even though my office is open and many people are going in.

I am kind of on pins and needles right now. Results in the writing comp that my last few stories and poems were written for are due today but nothing showing yet. I had been going to suggest they wait until Monday and maybe they have reached that conclusion already. The site is pretty quiet on weekends so not many would see the announcement until Monday anyway if they do it over the weekend.

Ooo Mendalla - must be hard to wait for those announcements! Keep us posted!

Yes - we don't go out much either - but it's nice to have friend come for tea on the porch sometimes. I'm not really clear if that will also be verboten. It was very strange last week when we had work crews in our house every single day - seemed like such an intrusion & we were all wearing masks for sure indoors.

Even though things are tolerably less-restrictive around numbers and venues, I don't find myself going out as much. Shopping has become less of an activity and more of a necessary and less-frequent trip. Masks are mandatory in every public indoor space. I know it's going to be rough for Ontarians but a vaccine is around the corner, and I'm sure these strong measures will help flatten the curve yet again. None the less, it sucks mightily. My Pollyanna rant.

Okay - I have to admit - this made me laugh - in the COVID restrictions department .... not quite imaging how this would work!

It's sort of funny, but when my friend worked at them they had regulars who did buy drinks, or food if available. I think it's sort of like casinos. Some aren't interested in the gambling too much but they go along for the cheap food and drinks; similarly the strippers are like background noise. That sounds awful but it's sort of like ignoring the house band you're not interested in. I think some men bring their dates there who couldn't care less. Some wives go along to appease their husbands. I've been because I knew people who worked at them years ago.

My mom and step dad went to Vegas on a tour of two States - too see the Grand Canyon - stayed overnight or maybe 2 nights, right beside a big casino, and they didn't gamble. (I mean - I don't like gambling because the house always wins, but still, that's weird!)

This is a cheap way to get a Vegas vacation, I've heard. Package deals. Just enjoy the casino loss-leaders such as meals and maybe take in an iconic performer and tour the surrounding area. Roswell is another destination. All this used to be much cheaper though. Not sure how easy it is to get free food anymore. Regarding strip clubs serving take away meals. Ya gotta wonder who's passing them through the booth and what they're wearing.

I was once at one that had pub food. Wait staff was clothed. Maybe skimpy clothes, but clothes. The strippers are the only ones who are naked and only for a couple of minutes. remember Hooters? We had one right down the street for awhile and I honestly can't remember if I ever ate there! I saw photos, commercials, the waitresses walking to work on the sidewalk even. I know my dad was keen on going to Hooters when he and my step mom came to Van to visit once - we were window shopping and looking for a place for lunch - but I think we convinced him that Earl's or Moxies was more appropriate for all of us! Lol.

I think the owners of those kinds of places are sleazy money grubbers and if there are other take out options, I'd opt for one them. Strippers are doing fine with online business now I read - starting online collectives - taking control of their own lives, safely. I'm okay with that and quite ok if the strip club businesses tank.

How do you all feel about the term lockdown where it's being used? When things were at their most restrictive point here, we didn't use it. I stated my bit earlier on lockdown. I think restrictions, non-essential businesses are shutdown, etc. are preferable unless movement in general is very restrictive. I haven't read the actual rules where the 'lockdown' is implemented though, maybe things are more restrictive than I suspect.

Our concern is that we are close to the area that is under lockdown. So, what does that mean? Ideally, people won't come here shopping.

Black Friday next week too. Good luck. I drove by a large shopping area and noticed there was already traffic piling up at the lines to get in. I wonder if the malls were similar, my guess is yes.

I did some shopping today, went to two small local stores. One is a chef that used to sell at market, and opened a storefront. Trinidadian with great sauces and some canning. The other is an art store, that sells items from small artists.

I amfrustrated by the lack of data. Are restaurants an issue? I go to stores with a mask. i amtge only one in the store. Why should they close?

According to BC stats restaurants and stores are not sites where infections happen. BC has imposed safety measures for both groups of businesses and that may be a factor. Restaurants have fewer seats and more plexiglas. They can have seats closer together if there's a barrier between customers. The new rules mean you have to wear a mask in the restaurant except when you're seated. That will increase safety presumably.

Northwind, i went into a restaurant near me, and was shocked at how close folks were without masks. so, much of this is cultural acceptance and willingness to follow. Like many things, it isn't simple.
