Anyway, I'm going to take a much needed break from thinking about stressful things, including covid policies (I'm not going anywhere but to the grocery store and to run in and buy the odd cup of coffee - but I can also skip buying the coffee and drink it at home). Might do a Schitt's creek binge. I've been hearing good things about it so I think I'll give it another chance. Maybe I'll come back to discuss scary realities once I've made it through all 6 seasons.

Enjoy! I continue to try to crack Schitt's Creek. Haven't so far, but haven't given up either.
 
Schitt's Creek is awesome. It is better once you know the characters. I particularly like how Alexa developed through the six seasons.

Isn't that what they're doing now?
Maybe it's just me, but if I ask someone what Covid reg or code we're in, in the town I live in, they tell me what Guelphs, London or Hamilton's code is. All are minimum 45 to 1 hour away.

What health unit are you under? That's what you need to go by.

Yes in health care we know this, but what about those who may not know this?
(I'm under Southwestern Public Health FYI.....we are moving into a yellow level starting Nov. 16)

Given the public profile health units and medical officers have been getting, I suspect that there is more awareness now. I certainly know the name of our local health officer now where I did not before .

I wonder what would happen if I stopped a few random high school or university kids and asked what level they are living in....would they know. Or the elderly? Would they be able to explain what that level would mean?
Without going through the process of looking it up....could you tell me what Level yellow is?

Actually, that's my beef with this new framework. Middlesex-London just moved to yellow and I have yet to see anything that clearly spells out what that means in real terms. Our health officer was already using section 22 orders to go beyond what the province mandated for this area so may not change anything, really. I've seen a nice chart showing what the criteria for moving from zone to zone are, but nothing that clearly spells out what measures come in at each level.

In other Covid news, more evidence has emerged that the virus was kicking around prior to its first formal diagnosis in December 2019. And it's in Europe, not Asia.

Doesn't mean any kind of cover-up or conspiracy, just that the symptoms were likely being written off as flu or other diseases rather than recognized as something new at that point.

Assuming this, and other research suggesting an earlier date for the start of the outbreak, hold up to scrutiny, it does raise the question of why Sars-Cov-19 seems to have turned more virulent in 2020 after more or less flying under the radar in 2019. Another one for the boffins to ponder and study.

Second waves seem to be more potent don't they?
 
Reading all these posts about figuring out codes in different parts of Ontario makes me glad BC hasn't been in a hurry to implement this kind of system. They do release stats for the different health authorities so it's easy to get an idea. They have put more restrictions in the Fraser Health (ie Surrey) and Vancouver Coastal Health Authorities. They did this because numbers are so high there. They believe that implementing regional restrictions isn't generally effective. It will be interesting to see if that opinion evolves.

No there are enhanced watch areas but the health code orders have changed. We're told the restrictions.
 
Here's something to think about from FB. A family all ends up COVID positive, all the adults need to be hospitalized, what happens to the kids?
 
I am surprised to hear on the news today that there are provinces that are only now making masks in public indoor places mandatory. What have they been waiting for all these months?
