Novel Coronavirus

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

And apparently one of the anti-mask groups from the GTA is bussing people down to join in.
The “Freedom March” – the second in as many weeks in the town – is set to start Saturday afternoon at the East Elgin Community Complex and proceed along Talbot Street toward downtown.

Organizer Kimberly Charlton Neudorf says the public event is a collective rebuke of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic by governments.

“Governments have handled COVID-19 so incredibly poorly, that what is called for goes way beyond some kind of (individual) flouting of public health regulations,”
she said in an email Wednesday.

Charlton Neudorf does not have an estimate on how many people will attend the rally but said speaking out against public health restrictions and the government’s actions is deeply important to her.

“I always advocate for families to be free and responsible to take care of themselves as they see fit,” she said.

“In the last eight months in particular, under the guise of emergency measures, the government has taken enormous steps to remove those liberties from us, and that is what has prompted me, as a mom, to stand up and speak up.”

Today Kenney said the federal app is not a contract tracing app, it's just an alert ap. Can anyone explain the difference?

Q&A with Pastor Hildebrandt

Pastor Henry Hildebrandt, whose Church of God in Aylmer won a showdown with authorities in the spring over its right to hold drive-in church services, has been a vocal opponent of government restrictions imposed to slow the spread of COVID-19. He spoke with Free Press reporter Dale Carruthers about his views on restrictions and Saturday’s Freedom March.

Q: As a community leader, why do you feel it’s important to speak out?
A: It is important that we recognize the value of various perspectives and differing opinions. This can be done peacefully, without insulting each other, but that is the foundation of a free society. I have a unique perspective as a minister and many people want to hear from the church. I am not anti-mask, I am pro-freedom, I respect anyone that wants to wear a mask or suspend their church services at this time, however that does not mean I need to enforce that. We need plurality of opinion and to discuss the issues at hand in a reasonable manner.

Q: What have you been hearing from your congregation on this issue?
A: Generally, they have been disturbed and put off by the bullying and discriminatory comments put out by those that feel we are wrong. They are encouraging me to keep going and stand for freedom as it is outlined in our constitution.

Q: Your church won a high-profile battle with police over the right to hold drive-in services. Are there parallels between that and this new issue?
A: Our battle was never really versus the police. I respect our police officers and understand that they have a difficult job knowing how to enforce an increasing array of changing emergency edicts. But, yes this is really just a continuation of that earlier debate — how much liberty are we willing to sacrifice for how much perceived security? Now that we are eight months into this quasi-lockdown, we understand that there is widespread dissatisfaction globally with the tactics used from the beginning, as the statistics do not support the original justification for these draconian measures. The government has pitted wide swaths of society against each other, contradicted themselves on many occasions (see masks), and is now trying to find a way out of this manufactured chaos without admitting defeat.

Q: Do you plan to attend the demonstration?
A: I am seriously considering it. My prayer is that all parties involved are peaceful and respectful and I salute our law enforcement for doing their best to keep the peace.

A contract tracing app would actually let authorities see who had been in contact with whom, where, and when so they could "follow the trail". An alert app, like this one, preserves anonymity so can only alert individuals to possible exposures without actually telling them when and where the exposure occurred so that tracing can't really be done. At least that's how I would read that.

The Alberta app doesn't give personal info. It's bluetooth based.

The police?

They come as small bits ... said to be derived from ID IO Tae ... Idi ology on things you expect to stop while they change ad continuum ... ID IOt eh? What would we know as kohl folks in the aye of privatized governing ... by either church or their collaborating partners! Terrible state of separation!

Sure would be nice if people didn't feel this need to tell others what to do while hiding behind the nanny state apron strings.

New restrictions - 40% of cases are household/social gatherings in homes. So request to not have others over at home and restrictions to 15 people for the province, not just some areas. Obviously that won't fix 40% of the current transmission and household can only be reduced so much.
What about the other 60% SMH
SK has a limit of 10 in small group gatherings in such places as homes. Only exception is when the family living in that home exceeds 10.

I think that in Ontario it depends which "level" your municipality is in but I would need to check to confirm. London is currently in the lowest level (Prevent) but we had a huge surge in new cases yesterday and our Medical Officer says we meet three of five criteria needed to move up to the second level (Protect).

So I looked at the document that spells out the levels. It is actually kind of complicated (hey, it's a government job, did you expect simple and easy?), but basically the first three levels are roughly the same as far as gatherings. It isn't until level 4 (Control) that they get a lot stricter and no health unit is currently in that level.

Nova Scotia has had the 10 person meeting rule all along. Cases are now up to 19, I believe, but still all are connected either directly to other cases or travel outside of the Atlantic bubble.
Hope they are not going to open the American border to please Biden.

I use a mask. I've read the info and decided that wearing one wouldn't cause me any problem. I pretty much mind my own business about other peoples' decisions. Don't feel any need for demonstrations from either side of the disagreement!
So then ... If others like myself do not consent to 'restrictions' as mandated by the 'nanny state' we should be allowed to go about our business in our own fashion and no one should object or interfere one way or the other.

In our health unit area, masks are mandatory inside businesses, for employees and customers alike. And it's not the customer that gets fined; it's the store owner.

So store owners are 'forced' to obey mandates around this testdemic or they will be forced out of business all together ... and that benefits WHO how?

I can’t believe all these months alter we are still going on about masks

they may be mandatory inside buildings depending where you live. In my area of Ontario they are

no problem. Don’t wear a mask ? just don’t go into the shop. You can do curb side pick up almost everywhere as far as i can tell

as I see it masks are an attempt to allow business to get back to work while still trying to prevent the spread of the virus. I don’t see that as a bad thing. Not sure why rita does?

I am more concerned that we feel we have done a good job but that is compared to the disaster south of us. Compared to the rest of the world we are not doing well

just now health canada has said. Oops. Sorry guys. Looks like air borne transmission after all

oops. Sorry guys, looks like you need a medical mask

oops sorry guys, we really aren’t sure how we will distribute a vaccine

oops sorry guys we still haven’t figured out a fast test

opps sorry guys we still fall way behind the line in contact tracing

it then as cases surge the PM gets up and scolds us like we are kids

if Trudeau would get his act together. Meet with the health Canada people, the provinces, get a instant test approved. Or I should say more than the one the begrudgingly just approved, come up with some realistic ideas for the future beside just throwing money at people they pushed out of the work force

its ridiculous. Canada has known about this since January. It is November. What the hell!
