Yes. I can only imagine that perhaos he is frightened. His wife is a nurse. I find the whole thing puzzling. It we cancelled golf this weekend. I mean he could be an asymptomatic speader. Hubby’s doc wants to wait too but I am tired of the waiting game

It's a negative impact to the world in the name of the virus. It should be written about in the context of covid because covid leaves us as sitting ducks to power grabs. It's more than a biological issue.

Arguing with mods in a thread is a banning offence on most boards I am on (on rpg.net you'd already be enjoying a holiday just based on your exchange with Red above). You are fortunate that we tend to be more tolerant here but I would still ask that if you want to argue a mod decision, do it in WC2 News & Business and don't derail the thread with that argument. Please and thank you.

:ROFLMAO: Unbelievable. This board is treading water and you're threatening to ban a longtime member over a disagreement with mods who among the few remaining members.

Bye.

Read my post carefully. I never threatened to ban you, only pointed out that you're lucky to be on a board that won't ban you for arguing with a mod and asked a courtesy in return.

And yes, we need a vaccine.
Not according to a scientist I heard on the CBC this morning.....he is not against a vaccine but he says we already have the means to control it and we are....through social distancing. He points to countries that are now on the other side of the first wave and he says this will continue to work in the second wave if we get one.
So while we wait for a vaccine, I'm thankful we already have some resources if we apply them faster next time if we enter into a possible second wave.

That's the protocol now in Ontario. If you think you've been exposed, get assessed and tested. I know the local assessment centres said they'd had their biggest day yesterday.
My understanding is that anyone can get tested in ontario...symptoms or not....because symptoms are not always what we were told are the "usual" symptoms anymore.

Exactly, within reason. If my arthritis flares up, I won't likely be seeking a COVID test.

Im a bit miffed about the inspections that are being ramped up towards nursing homes/retirement....they fail to include the inclusion of spending habits of the actual private owners and share owners that sit in glass towers in big cities that almost never set foot in the facilities they build or buy. Their only concern is the profit margin and to reduce spending which includes orders to management to keep staff low, needed care products which include briefs and wipes to a minimum, and a strick dietary budget, etc.....
Are these business men cronies of Ford or has he just forgot that starting an investigation from the top down should include the actual owners?

It was said on CBC yesterday when all of this came out, that Ford’s government had actually changed the rules for inspections to “ only when a complain existed”. With the consequence that hardly any inspections happened.

And today on CBC radio the health minister stated that the reports of only 9 homes being inspected were not correct and the over 600 nursing homes had been inspected over 3,000 times..gee it's hard to know what to believe.
I just dont want to see the little guy, as in healthcare workers take the whole fall, as the actual owners enjoy the diverted attention away from themselves.

Yes - Dr. William Hasseltine - excellent interview this morning. I saw him say basically the same thing on Anderson Cooper the other night.

Purple prose here. Kimmio, you have managed the feat of irritating/insulting/alienating most of the moderators on this board by simple, repeated, and rude behaviour. If you don't recognize the dismissive, insulting nature of many of your posts when you go on a "rant", maybe you need to consider the art of self-reflection. You are currently banned from this thread for three days at present. Council hopes you can take that time to consider your actions as a part of a community. If you don't wish to engage in a community with some level of civilization, just don't. Consider your responses, please. If you think it is necessary and would be productive, you are invited to engage in discussions regarding moderation in WC2 News and Business.

I do find it a bit odd how much things vary province to province. I see issues where one province is really being strict on things and then a neighbouring one isn't.
Things aren't so bad here, I probably don't have a great picture as I'm not going to local sources for cross country. Overall I would say BC-MB things are on a similar level in terms of goals.
Here I find it to be a bit confusing as it is with different playground rules from one place to the next (even within my neighbourhood they aren't all doing the same thing). But with this like this:
When you compare them to Quebec, that's complicating things.

I'm not even suggesting not to take a regional approach, but it sounds like New Brunswick is trying to prevent cases overall. Quebec isn't.

Things evolved very gradually. When I came back from Germany February 27 th, there was no rule to self isolate and I went to work the next day. My colleague went to Las Vegas the week before March break, came back during March break and had to stay home for two weeks, but at that time, NS first closed its borders to other provinces and it had exceptions for healthcare workers.
It still had the rules for several weeks, that healthcare workers were supposed to come to work, even when potential covid contact had happened ( like working in an assessment clinic) as long as they didn’t have any symptoms.
That , I believe has changed about three weeks ago. I suspect that they were afraid to not have enough healthcare workers if they made people stay at home for two weeks.
I don’t know about NB rules. But, the same exceptions are for truck drivers going between Provinces. I am just wondering if that doctor even broke any rules, or if NB had made exceptions to healthcare workers as well as long as they didn’t show symptoms.

It's not just the need to isolate that varies though, they are essentially taking that zone back to all the restrictions - emergency room closed (which hasn't occurred here at all due to COVID-19), businesses closed, etc. I get that the population in that region is smaller, but still. Meanwhile Quebec has had students in school

They said in the news a male health care worker went to Quebec. Came back and went to work. Has likely contaminated 150 people and not enough staff to run the hospital. Small place and so those 150 people could have infected the whole town

so testing entire town

Now Ford is calling out the owners of the hardest hit facilities....but not quite the owners, only the names of the corporations that they run under, eg. Sienna. Why aren't they naming names of the actual people? They are refusing to respond to government letters or to be interviewed when they are asked.....are they immune from a court order to have to account for the nursing home disasters?

Revera is owned by the federal public service pension plan, so lets not pretend its just fat-cat rich bastards here. That plan covers most of the federal public service, IIRC, so its basically owned by civil servants.

And if they are publicly traded, there's no one owner to call out, either.

And they are not immune from a court order, but no such order exists as far as I know. There are some lawsuits underway but it is generally the corporation that is being sued, not the owner.
