Kimmio,
in my above post my reference to honour society is something more specific than the behaviour and feeling of honour -- i should have used the term culture of honour actually :3
there are more examples of cultures of honour around the world -- these tend to be nomadic cultures with scarce resources, lack of sufficient law enforcement & the benefits of crime outweigh the risks (cf Richard Nisbett)-- so these nomadic cultures develop social norms that try to deal with that
Here's a simple write-up to get you started
Here is an example of a simple study (no maths or statistics here to worry aboot -- written in narrative english) of the actual physical & psychological effects in the US of members of the Southern Honour culture
Honor killings are associated with cultures of honor -- closer to home, a problem with multiculturalism we're having in Canada -- learning how to deal with it
one thought that i've had is that since it looks like people from these honour cultures react differently to being insulted than people outside, what are the consequences of allowing them to be elected leader of an influential country and how should that influence policy? how have these cultures influenced the BS that a lot of us follow (like Judaism, created by nomads; Islam, created by nomads...)
